I'm gonna walk to the office in a bit and will be going right by the store (I work above Madison Square Garden. I'll take pics and post them later if there is anything to see through the windows. They took over the Virgin Megastore that closed a few years ago. That store was HUGE, so this DS should be amazing!! Hmmm, maybe I'll go by after work on Tuesday.

How close is it to the Toys-R-US store? Is it at 42 of is it up towards 44th? The old Disney store was at 55th?

I remember going in the Virgin Megastore when I visited NYC before it closed. It was pretty huge, I do remember that. But I can't wait to see your photos!

I'm in the Disney store right now and they tell me there is NO parade. I told them the may want a PR person to look into it. Store has been open almost a week with a soft opening. It officially opens 1pm Tuesday. And it is only half the old Virgin store. Jacca, it is just two blocks up from Toys R Us across from the Marriott at 46th Street.

It's that big. I thought it was only about 1/3 of the size of the old Virgin Megastore. The Forever 21 right next door is the other tenant to take over the space. I personally think that the WOD on 5th ave and 55th was a great store.

I'll have to work my way over to this one the next time I'm in NYC.

As promised here are photos. The first floor is narrow and not very long while the second floor is much bigger but there were so many people it was difficult to really get a sense of what all is there. Personally, the old 5th Avenue store was much better. I couldn't find an "art" area at the new one (cells, poster, stuff like that). I didn't see another escalator up or down beside the one.

Here is the outside from Broadway and 7th Avenue

This is the main floor. To my left is a VERY long escalator up.

Second floor (lots of princess stuff right when you get off the escalator.

This is in the back of the second floor. I tried to get around people to get back behind it, but it was just too crowded.

This is the escalator going back down. I thought the Mickey and Minnie were cute. I took about 5 pics but they all had glare (I was using my iPhone).

Thanks for the pictures. It is very interesting to see the merchandise that Disney went with. They ended up producing some custom NY stuff as seen in your picture. It looks nice, but I definitely like the way the old store on 5th ave was done. It was simple but yet you really felt like you were shopping in Disney.

I like the IP store concept a lot. I really enjoy going to the Freehold store since it is such an improvement over the TCP designed stores. However, this new Times Square location kind of reminds me of the M&Ms store just a few blocks away.

EXACTLY! It is a shame really. There is so much potential. There was a LOT on NYish stuff. I didn't feel like I was at Disney at all. Oh well. Guess I just have to go to the real thing! :D

Those are some nice photos there! I didn't get a chance to visit the Disney Store that was on 5th Ave so I don't know what it looks like.
