Today's new Disney authorized merch for the movie, super expensive solid colored clothes that apparently are themed after the movie. Other than the clothes being cut by lasers and the colors there is almost no real tie in.

I saw something like that and if it weren't too expensive, I'd buy some of the stuff there. The only Tron things I have are Sam's identity disc and an ElecTRONica shirt.

I know they aren't the only company doing high end marketing for their blockbuster movie (Twilight, Harry Potter, etc.) but still, that is crazy expensive for subtle branding.

The latest in TRON branding: go to adidas.com and do search on "Tron" and you will find an entire adidas clothes line based on TRON...oh my...

A few years ago they made a really nice retro jacket, they were making a bunch of re-releases/inspired by items from the 80's for the adicolor line.

Still, $35 for a key chain at the popup shop is way over the top.

While the free screening sounds tempting, I won't be able to go during that time. I'll be preordering my ticket for the Friday it comes out once I buy my phone upgrade.

I did see a fifteen minute behind the scenes video of the set and saw how they made him look younger. It was pretty cool but I would have figured it'd be a pain to have that on for so long.

I think the environment has changed enough that they are, 20-30 years ago it was a totally new style of film and they were known for the family movies and whatnot (that and promotion use to be modest and the script was kinda terrible). Now that sci-fi movies are more mainstream and they have promoted this movie like crazy (I saw 4 ads for it during a single tv program), I'm going to say they will probably not suffer in terms of viewers. That and the reviews said it's pretty good.

I'm real excited by it. I'll be buying my ticket in advance since my finals will be done before the Friday it comes out.
