So which one is better?

I go for Cinderella's Castle at WDW. Much more grand and elegant (imho) than Sleeping Beauty Castle. Plus, I like the fact that there's the apartment in Cinderella's castle where Walt was going to live, but was later turned into the phone center for WDW... creative use of space...

Yeah, what js3901 said. I'm not too fond of the new gold/pinkish color scheme on Sleeping Beauty's castle.

I said Sleeping Beauty because, well, it's the only one I've ever seen in person. So .

SB for me, because it holds the most memories for me, since DL was the park I have visited mostly.

I say Sleeping Beauty because Cinderella's gray color looks too much like a office building and too plain.

Better in what way? If were judging on appearance I agree with js3901 Cinderella's Castle more elegant. Also at 190 ft. CC is nearly twice the height of SBC, thats a huge difference. Personally I like both of castles.

That would be so weird. Answering all kinds of questions while living where so many young girls would give anything to live (or at least dream about).

I was told this by a CM. I don't remember if I overheard this from a tour going by (as I've sadly never been on any of the WDW tours thus far ) or if I was told this when I called down there for prices and stuff. I'll try and find more info on it, but maybe one of the former CM Tour guides can shed some light on the subject...

God, I hate to be a bubble-buster here. There are so many Disney urban legends that I want soooo much to believe that sometimes it's tough to lay the facts on the line. If you really want the truth, here it is:

There definitely is a penthouse apartment in the castle. When I was going through training as a magic kingdom tour guide, we had the opportunity to visit that frequently discussed piece of real estate. We also talked about the litany of rumors concerning it's existence.

Similar to the hearse outside Disneyland's Haunted Mansion that carried Brigham Young's body (it did not), sometimes these rumors get told so often with so much enthusiasm that they become truth. The rumor about the castle call center is just that: a rumor.

Let's start at the beginning: it's 1966, and Walt has just bid a final farewell to Mickey and the gang. His brother, Roy Oliver, swears that he will go forward with the construction of Disney's Florida project, but will call the venture "Walt" Disney World, in honor of his brother's dream. The plans and blueprints for most of the Magic Kingdom have already been finalized, including those for Cinderella Castle. Contained in those blueprints is a penthouse apartment about two-thirds of the way up the castle, facing Fantasyland and Liberty Square. When construction begins on the castle in 1969, the plans have not been altered. The apartment is built, along with a connecting bathroom, though the interior is finished to a bare minimum.

Okay, there's the basic story. The apartment is not large, no bigger than 400 square feet. Though there are electical and phone outlets in the room, there is nothing elaborate enough for a phone center. Besides, why would they spend the money running thousands of feet of fiber optics (the WDW phone system was the first fiber optic system of its kind in the world) a hundred feet up the castle when they had almost 30,000 acres of land to build on? The phone center for Walt Disney World is located on the north side of Walt Disney World property, behind the Port Orleans Riverside resort. It's been there since before opening day in 1971.

The castle penthouse was never furnished as an apartment, nor a phone center, nor a security office (which is located on the second floor of the east side of main street). It HAS been used as a break room and changing area for Magic Kingdom entertainment, most recently the male streetmosphere cast members.

Don't feel too bad if you've been duped. Take a look at this tall tale I found on an anonymous website:

"The upper levels of the castle are used as a water tower."

Trust me, that is not the case. There are TONS of rumors like this floating around. I know that Cast Members enjoy spreading them, even if they know it to be false. It all adds to the magic. Like I said before, sometimes I hate to spoil them... Rest assured of one thing: Walt DID intend to occupy that apartment.

Next time you visit the Magic Kingdom, walk through the castle towards Fantasyland. Heading through the castle breezeway in that direction, look to your right and behind you. You'll see a small door that faces the rear of the castle and the carousel. That door is almost always locked, but it leads to the smallest elevator you've ever seen--the same elevator that has one word stenciled above it in the utilidor--"PENTHOUSE."

That is a GREAT resource, not only on Disney but on all urban legends. snopes.com has long been debunking rumors and separating fact from fiction. However, I was surprised to see they had no information on the Castle apartment...

I check that site all the time before I say anything. If it's not there, I'll say what I've been told (perpetuating the rumor) until proven otherwise.

Another fun fact: snopes.com is run out of WNY (where I am). The person who owns it is always on our local rock station and lives about 15 minutes away from me
