Yes, perhaps we should do a finger check in episode II?!mindflipper wrote:I have to admit there was a bit of intense suspense in the first episode - Mousekedude and a power saw: a potentially frightening combination...

Amy: yes, the grunting is, of course, MANdatory (pun intended), especially when passing the Binford Tool section. Oh, and by the way, I still have all my fingers.
Jacca: yes, it will be very labor intensive. Especially because I'm also planning to install hidden lights in it as well.
Boilerbabe: video would have been fun, but since I was all by myself it would have been a little hard to do. Plus, I didn't want people in the store to think I was some kind of psycho...
Mindflipper: I've come pretty close to losing appendages before, but in almost 40 years of playing with sharp tools I haven't done too bad.
NaCler: the breakfast place is just a little hole-in-the-wall joint that we like. Good food, friendly staff, and fair prices. Lots of our friends go there.

I totally love this!!! Wow! I imagined it to be smaller, I am so impressed! And the way you did a shadow to trace it? What a great tip! I can't wait to see more of this thread. By the way, how heavy do you imagine this will be when all finished?

I imagine it will probably weigh about 30 pounds or so when done, not counting the pins.

Dude - Ouch, 30lbs without the pins? Are you mounting this on the wall or constructing a Mickey feet stand?

It will be mounted on the wall, but rest assured that it will be done properly. I plan to install interlocking steel brackets on the back, with the wall-mount part screwed solidly into the studs. I don't want that thing crashing down on something. Besides, I intend to run wiring to it from inside the wall so that it stays lit up without any externally visible wires.

Thanks!
Sadly, though, I fear that updates may be far between. I have very little time to work on it, and it may take months to finish it, so updates may be a couple (or several) weeks apart.
I'll do my best, though. Thanks for your patience. The end result will be worth the wait (I hope... ).

Awesome dough critters, Jacca! Did you eat them?
Amy, try actually shopping at the Man Zone Toy Store... who knows? You might meet a handsome airline pilot buying a tool and be able to sweet talk him into flying you to WDW for free in December!
