Actually, it may be dead in the US, but not elsewhere in the world; BBC Radio has broadcasted radio dramatisations and audio books for decades. Nowadays, even if you don't live in the UK, you can listen to it all you want with streaming audio from the BBC iplayer.

I love radio serials. I have many on my computer.

I also love radio serials. I have a collection of Mercury Theater and Campbell Playhouse on my computer.

This was just in our paper today about the serial shows...I will have to listen on the computer since we don't have Radio Disney in our neck of the woods...

I don't see it being successful. I don't see the youth of today sitting around listening to the radio. They will get bored without something to look at or at least be distracted by their Twitbook and Facer accounts.

I disagree. I see kids to day listening to their IPODs and MP3 player for hours on end. If Disney keeps it interesting they will listen!

I kind of agree with both of you. If it is interesting, kids might give it a chance, it is only 8-9 minutes after all. But, I also wonder if it will be more of a draw for an older generation, one that grew up with Disney and want to relive a little nostalgia.

Listening to music on an MP3 player for hours is different then following a serial radio program. I have friends who complain constantly when I have one of my radio programs playing in my car when they get in, and they are near 30...I don't see a tween having any more of an interest.

I see your point, and with an episode being 8-9 minutes MAY keep the attention of today's youth. Though if it doesn't catch their attention within the first minute or so (maybe less), it will not hold it.

Even I have a hard time sticking with something if it doesn't grab my interest right away, and I no longer fit in the "youth" category :( It is just so hard with everything and everyone competing for your attention these days...some things just have to give. You'll notice that I haven't given up the computer just yet though ;) But I usually have no less than 3 tabs open at once and am constantly toggling back and forth between them :D
Actually I was watching a recorded tv show on a portable DVD player during commercials for a tv show that was on "live" last night, plus reading the newspaper, as well as eating a snack. It was driving my Mom nuts who claims she doesn't know anyone who is as un-relaxed as I am. To each their own I guess...
