Judging by the new director's past projects.....is he going to be turning POTC into a musical?...seriously.

The third film finished off the Will Turner - Elizabeth Swann storyline (especially after the credits of the third film) - it was known back then that neither would be returning for the third film. Therefore, the fact they are not in the next film has nothing to do with any budget cuts in the film. The article is very misleading to indicate there is any connection.
Secondly, depending upon when they are filming, the Caribbean can be unpredictable for weather, especially during the hurricane season. Switching to Hawaii can provide a more reliable environment for a film schedule than the Caribbean can during the summer. Also, the third film had spun out of control on costs, so maybe the reason for the budget cut is to curb that from happening again. Be honest, for what the third film cost, it wasn't worth it - of the the three films, it's the one I liked the least. Too much special effects, not enough story. Maybe they learned their lesson and decided to cut special effects in favor of a better story.

Doesn't matter much to me... a 4th film following the two previous HORRIFIC ones, not a promising prospect.
Should've stopped with the amazing first one...

I agree, Soarin. They should have stopped with the first one but I did enjoy the second more than the third.

I think this is a wait and see. I figures the search for the fountain of youth would have to end up in Southwest Florida (AKA Ft Myers Beach, Mantanzas Pass)

I think it may involve Florida too, Jacca5660. Also, it's Sparrow vs. Barbosa vs. Blackbeard in this film too. Gone is Will and Elizabeth. Gone is Davy Jones. Like Jacca5660, I'm more "wait and see" about the next film.

Two exceptions for me: the crab scene and the final battle in the whirlpool. those were great scenes.

The only scene I liked in the third film was Jack trying to capsize the Black Pearl in order to escape Jones' Locker. It had the humor that reminded me of the first film.

Disney is saving that for a stage show outside of the parks or so I've heard.

I'm right with ya on that one! I loved the first, liked the second and well, not so much on the third.
But 2 things I will always take away from the 2nd movie are "I got a jar o' dirt, I got a jar o' dirt, I got a jar o' dirt and guess what's inside it!" and "where's the thump-thump?" Those were probably my 2 favorite lines in the whole movie.

The best part of the third one was Keith Richards. He wasn't in it long enough, either!
A musical??? Ummmm.... wow. I hope not!
