Random celeb sightings

Post by kcarts » Mar Mon 29, 2010 6:06 pm

Has anyone ever run into a celebrity while at WDW? Not someone who was scheduled to be there. Someone who just happened to be there. I got thinking about this last week when a reporter asked Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll where he was when the owners voted on the new OT rules for the NFL and he answered, "where was I? (couple second pause) I think I was actually on Space Mountain, to tell you the truth." So with that in mind, I ask you: Have you ever run into someone famous at WDW? Me? I saw Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox at Jellyrolls back in May 2005. I was there for my friend's wedding. He was there blowing off some steam. He was enjoying himself. And the libations....

I know you specified WDW, but I've got a DL story...

My DH and I were in line for the Matterhorn and after we were loaded into our car, 2 kids were "escorted" into the car behind us. While we were on the ride, they were a little nervous but we turned around to talk to them and calm them down a little (they had fun when it was all said and done).

When we got to the unloading area, the kids hopped out and ran to their mother with all smiles. Their mother was Marla Maples. We exchanged quick smiles since she saw we had gotten out of the same car as her kids and DH and I headed to IASW. We had been in line waiting our turn and just before we got to the front of our line, a VIP group was escorted into a boat....whaddya know it was Ms. Maples and the family again! They were 2 boats ahead of us....

I saw Kevin Greene there with his family back in 2002 for New Years. It was very weird watching him push a stroller with a baby. The guy is huge and intimidating...and was pushing a stroller.

Also...same trip...I was waiting to eat at Teppanyaki and my buddy decided he needed to go to the bathroom. As he was standing at the toilet answering nature's call...Steven Tyler (lead singer of Aerosmith) walked in and did the same at the toilet next to him. I saw Steven Tyler walk in and out of the bathroom...he is a skinny fella. What's funny is that it was the day after we were at MGM (back then) and so we were talking about how cool it would be to ride the RnR with the band.

I never had any celeb encounters at the parks just yet but I have a feeling it may happen soon. They usually go either before or after I go.

That would be so weird to have a super huge rock star next to you in the bathroom!

I was told by one of the Cheetah Girls (the blonde one) that I was creepy while working at Tower of Terror. I thought to myself "that's the point and that means I am doing my job..."

We got into a conversation once about a decade ago with a nice, rather tall man at the Boardwalk one morning, and after he walked on another guest came up to us all freaked out because it turns out we were talking to Kurt Warner the quarterback and had no clue who he was. :o

I've seen numerous celebrities but they can be hard to catch because Disney has a tendency to escort them around backstage at WDW so as not to cause a stir.

I know someone who, a few years ago, saw Steven Tyler changing a diaper in a restroom in MGM! He walked past him and had to go back because it didn't register.

Really?! WOW! I had always thought that none of the Aerosmith group had been back to MGM since they opened Rock N' Roller Coaster?! That must have been a site!!!

In February 2008 at DLR my husband and I saw Barry Bonds riding Story Book Land...He had a camera with one of the longest lenses I've ever seen. HAHA

And I just have to share this story: When we were in WDW in 2004 we were enjoying our extra magic hours in the MK. We were on about our fifth time going through the non-existent line for Splash when a cast member shouts at my dad, "YOU'RE THE GUY FROM MONTY PYTHON!!!" And my dad simply said no and kept walking fast, but the kid ran after us and said, "YES! YOU ARE JOHN CLEESE!!" Again my dad said "NO I AM NOT." But the kid still looked at him in awe.
