Disney Crafts

Post by Polynesian Princess » Feb Sun 21, 2010 4:54 pm

I love crafting of any sort and thought I'd start a thread where people can show off any Disney crafts that they've made! I'm in the process of making some Disney shirts that I'll post pictures of as soon as I finish them this week for our upcoming trip! So, what Disney crafts have you made? It can be anything - cake, knit, painted, scrapbooking, drawing, etc.! :D

My family spent a week at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort last year and made tie-dyed t-shirts on two of the days. This was a supervised session by the resort staff. It was messy and loads of fun. My step-son (the artist) had the best results. We were so impressed we bought some tie-dye kits for home use.

Cool! I'd love to see pictures! And if you have any tips, I'd love to hear them - I'm going to be doing tie dye shirts too.

There's this one craft I've been dying to try out. They're Disney paper models and while they're complicated (depending on the level of difficulty they have), I haven't found all the time to do it. One of these days I want to try it. I would love to do the Haunted Mansion ones, especially Phantom Manor.

I've made a couple of Spectromagic Themed rugs. One is here: http://arete-eirene-phile.deviantart.co ... g-24150371 but it's not that great of a picture.

Oh wow - that's really great! I bet it was a lot of work to design the pattern for that!

I just made my Mickey tie dye shirts tonight and I've got another shirt I made. Hopefully they'll come out good and I'll post pictures tomorrow!

I can't remember now, but I think it took the greater part of a day to draw it all out. I need to make a digital pattern and post it to my dA site. I've been meaning to do it for years and have never gotten around to it.

Best of luck with your shirts!

Wow, that's all it took? I can't draw worth anything, so that would have taken me weeks.

Thanks! The hardest part about tie dying is waiting to take them out and wash them! I'm so impatient.

That is an amazing job Arete.

I just took my shirts out of the dryer and I'm really disappointed in how they came out! I think I just got nervous when I was doing them and didn't use enough dye or apply it right. One of the shirts is probably not wearable other than a sleep shirt and the other is ok, but not what I envisioned. I hate it because I'm leaving Friday and I really want them for my trip. I'll probably head to Walmart in a little bit and take my time doing one last batch ... it's a shame that the test shirt that has holes in it and shrunk beyond wearing is the prettiest shirt I made! I'll post pictures when they come out of the dryer.

That is a cool rug Arete! I would never have the stick-to-it-iv-ness to finish something that big!
I hope you have better luck on your second batch of shirts Poly. P. I bet you will get lots of compliments in the parks. You'll probably get tired of people asking "Where did you buy that shirt - I want one!"

You should make some more rugs the next chance you get, Arete. Maybe sell some here to feed those addicted fans.
