I truly think this will be the hit of the year. It's wildly popular the first two movies a classics that everybody loves. It's going to be released in 3D that automatically adds to its box office. It's going to play throughout the summer when kids are out of school. Some other numbers and predictions:
I'm going to make a few guarantees.
Biggest Animated Opening
Shrek 3-121 million
Toy Story 3-155 million
Biggest Animated Movie Domestic
Shrek 2-441 million
Toy Story 3-520 million
Biggest Animated Movie Foreign
Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs-687 million
Toy Story 3-750 million.
Total gross for Toy Story 3-1.2 billion
Iron Man 2 kicks off the summer and basically will make all of its money in May and most of June. TS3 will have to deal with Twilight Eclipse but that will fall off fast. And then the next big film to come out will be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 but TS3 will be out of theaters by then.

I really hope that TS3 takes in that much. The series has been real strong and it's one of my personal favorites. I can't wait for Iron Man 2 either.

I'm glad I bought TS and TS2 on Blu-Ray since they came with free tickets to TS3. I'm sure we'll have to pay extra for the 3D glasses...but it will be worth it!

I think we serously need to invest into the DVD version. We brought home the VHS versions of TS1 and 2 from Grandmas house. I did not know what the kids would think. My daughters a little princess crazy and my son is not old enough to really care about any yet.....or so I thought. We now have a fight between princesses, cars and TS. The only problem is TS is VHS on a LCD screen.... Oh yea it is bad but the kids love it!!

You seriously need to upgrade! Blu-ray is the way to go, definitely!

That's our plan too. I really, REALLY wanted to go to the El Capitan theatre in L.A. on June 17th where they're going to show TS1, 2 then 3 marathon style. Unfortunately we can't make it, but we'll have our own marathon!

Blu-ray? I bet you have a Beta Max in a closet? It's a transitional technology. I'm waiting it out. I truly believe the next media is going to be more of a SD card type. Disc are going to go the way of the dinosaur. It's going to get much, much smaller, and cheaper.

Yeah, that's probably true....and think how much the studios will rake in because the media is so small that people will keep losing them and have to buy it again...

(that would be me

Media On-Demand is the wave of the future. It's the reason Netflix is enjoying so much success with their instant movies. It's also a way to generate more recurring revenue. I think Disney will come up with an offshoot of their Movie Rewards program that allows on-demand viewing of Disney movies for a set price per month. You could still buy the movies if you wanted to...but you could also watch them via your computer or instant streaming media device anytime you wanted to.
Just watch...you heard it here first from theBIGyowski.
