I am signed up for my first Half-Marathon, and my DW is doing the Goofy Challenge

(she amazes me) in January 2010.
Are any other Subsonics going to be there as well?

Good luck to you and your DW! We did the 1/2 in '05! Would love to make it back again, I need to earn another Duck!

Let us know how it goes!!!!

Will do Boilerbabe! I have done two half-marathons in training so far, so maybe I won't embarrass myself during the race

. You two have a great trip. You and Boilerdude have a lilikoi juice, or a dole-whip float, or a Mainstreet bakery cinnamon roll, (this is starting to look bad...) for my wife and me!
Happy (Holidays) Landings

I will be down there for that week. My friend is running in the marathon with her sister.

Yea! Will you be cheering or dodging runners in the park?

Probably a little of both. I will be hanging out with her husband while she and her sister run. We'll probably be at the Boardwalk to watch them go by.

I am not a runner and I am only somewhat familiar with DL's 1/2 marathon in the fall, what is the Goofy's Challenge? Just curious...

The Goofy Challenge is a half-marathon on Saturday and a full marathon on Sunday (back to back). That's 39.3 miles in two days! Now you do get three medals if you finish, a Donald medal for the half, a Mickey for the full and a Goofy for doing both.
My Wife has run each separately for the last two years. She really wants that Goofy medal

Thanks, MmeLeota and disneydreamer58. She has been training for three years for this (it all started with her first half-marathon) and this was after three surgeries (both knees, one foot and another broken foot). I will make sure she sees your messages.
Can you tell I am a proud husband?

I won't be running but my wife and I will be down there at this time. This explains why it was so hard to get a room for that Saturday night.

Yes, the runners take a LOT of rooms

- there were 45,000 of us last year (for all the races)

. After the races we don't smell too well

, and we will be eating most of the food at all of the restaurants, but if you can put up with these things - you are welcome to join us.
Ahhh...there is nothing like WDW in January...sigh

I bid you both good luck! I would do it since I need to get in shape soon but I wouldn't last long.

I will be one of the volunteers manning the first/Last water stop for the half

(I volunteered for this so I wouldn't be tempted to go Goofy)
I am running the Marathon on the Sunday
Best of luck to both of you.
The things we do to get a Mickey shaped piece of metal
