Sagging economy slows plans for ‘Flamingo Crossings’ at Disney

Just beyond the western entrance to Walt Disney World, construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a new network of roads complete with utility lines, street lamps and palm trees — but not a single building.
The empty streetscape is all that exists so far of “Flamingo Crossings,â€

Yep, the recession is screwing things up. Due to the recession, companies are closing locations, not expanding. If Disney thinks this is going to turn around soon, they are niave in their optimism. The economy is going to be a slow rebound, not a quick one.
Y'know, when you look at the fantasyland "expansion" overlaid on the current fantasyland (see separate topic which includes this overlay map), you realize it's taking up the same amount of space as Fantasyland and Mickey's Toon Town. It's really more of a "renovation". I guess since Mickey's Toon Town is going away, and that Fantasyland is "expanding" into that space, then they can claim its an "expansion", but it doesn't look like it's taking up much more space than was already there.

I work in the security sector. There has been a marked increase in activity as of late. It's usually a bellwether for which way the economy is going. Disney is one of those companies that tanks there number for a price increase. It's just more corporate greed!!
