So how many of you out there have seen the Lion King on the stage? I just saw it here in Mpls and it is amazing! Seriously, spend the money and see it! The costumes, sets, music, everything is amazing. And if you saw the Aminal Kingdom version it is nothing like that, it is a thousand times better than that. Anyways - other reactions to any who have seen it?

Also - trivia time, where did it open prior to hitting Broadway?

I have seen it. It's just like the movie but live. I quite enjoyed it. Yes, the costumes and sets are amazing.

Yes!! I saw the musical last summer in SF. The costumes were totally gorgeous. The way they did the stampede and the scene where Mufasa's body appears in the stars totally had me awed.

I thought it was a little strange how they took the words from the movie and used it verbatim. My favorite song has to be Endless Night. Also, there are a lot of kids in the audience- go fig!

Nope - before it went to Broadway it made its debuted in St Paul MN, so lots of people here are seeing it again. I never saw it the first time and kicked myself since then!

And I agree on the kids - there is no way they'd appreciate all of it!

That's true. Not your typical musical/play crowd. The older lady sitting next to me was so into it. I mean, she cried when Mufasa died.

The musical is coming to Saramento next month, but all the tickets are already sold out. :(

I went to see it. My school field trips are the greatest. (Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King on stage plus the annual trip to Great America) But about the show. The costuming and the human effect that the actors gave while acting out the animals was fantastic.

I saw it in NYC a few years back.. It was an amazing show...

They did an excellent job moving it from the big screen to the stage.

For those who haven't seen it I strongly recommend seeing it!

I took my wife, kids and parents to see it in NYC two years ago. Amazing production, definitely worth the price of admission. 8)

B&B is great, too - we've seen it on tour, not in NYC so we were able to get away with paying a mere $75/pp versus $100/pp.

The only parts I've seen of Beauty and the Beast, are in the Disney Broadway book. That book has perrty pictures!

I saw it 2 years ago at the Pantages theater in Los Angeles. It brought me to tears. It is so clever, well executed, and it included musical numbers that were originally written for the animated feature that didn't make the final cut, but were breathtaking. I highly recommed seeing it if you get the opportunity.
