Tron Legacy

The second installment of Tron has released the trailer at Comic Con over the weekend. I don't know if anyone/everyone has seen it so I'm going to post it here for you all to see it. Also, I don't think there's an official post for Tron so we can use this.

The sad thing is that we're all so desensitized to CGI, I doubt we'll be impressed with any of the effects.
They do seem to be doing some things right. Music by Daft Punk (although they better pay some homages to the original soundtrack, which is badass analog electronica) and they got the same sound effects guy to work on this one.
For reference, whoever did the sound on
this scene deserves eternal recognition. His name should be etched in the Moon or something.
The writing will probably suck, but so did the writing for the first one.
If you ever get a chance to look at the extended DVD, there are hours and hours of material on how they did the effects, and they are more amazing than the movie. CGI with no video monitors! Data entry with pencils, graph paper, and fax machines! Custom built computers with dodgy parts that constantly blew out!
Really a lot of fantastic footage from the era of EPCOT's creation, when the boundaries were being pushed and computers were a sign of infinite possibilities and not just another appliance to fiddle with when you should be doing something else.
Also I want a recognizer.

That's amazing sound. As a rookie soundboard operator, that sort of thing fascinates me. I'll have to go find the movie somewhere!

I had an original Tron T-Shirt from Disneyland and I ended up selling it on eBay a few years ago. It defininately created a lot of interest!

I just remember being shown this movie in the auditorium in grade school and falling asleep. Maybe I would appreciate it more as an adult?!
