Space Mountain Concourse

Post by kgmadorin » Mar Thu 24, 2005 4:42 pm

Here's one for you Disneyland-philes:

Where / What is the Space Mountain Concourse at Disneyland? I've noticed songs playing with that description from time to time, and almost always enjoy them. It seems like a wide variety of thematic music, so I'm a bid confused on where it could play in Tomorrowland.

It's the music that's played while waiting in line for Space Mountain while outside above the HISTA theater.

Thanks, subsonic. It just seems some of that music is out of place in Tomorrowland.

concourse selection

Most of the stuff played on the concourse is from Epcot with some movie soundtracks thrown in. Some of it fits, but you're right, it wasn't written specifically for Tomorrowland. 8)

Space Mountain Music

Post by Fantasrick » Apr Fri 22, 2005 12:43 pm

The Space Mountain Music has 3 themes, all similiar, but the best is the Que/Entrance Music and Star Tunnel, which you would hear after the ride the theme called Promising Tommorows is the same basic theme with slight variation.

That's right, the WDW Space Mountain has the Star Tunnel/Promising Tomorrow mix, but he was referring to the Space Mountain Concourse at Disneyland. I can't recall ever hearing the Star Tunnel music at DLR, but who knows what music will be playing when they reopen in July. Can't wait! 8)

Sockfire is right--I was referring to Space Mountain at Disneyland. But you're right, rickeisenstein, I love the music at WDW also.

From a track layout standpoint, the ride is exactly the same. They just replaced the track with new steel and a better design, but the layout is identical. There were rumors of a lunch start with linear induction motors instead of the two lift hills, but alas, they were just rumors. Lots of new lighting and effects, and realistic looking asteroids; not the flying chocolate chip cookies that we are used to. They have upgraded the station and “modernized” it, but it is still the same basic layout. One of the biggest changes is the ability to pull cars out to the side to load the handicapped. In the old system, if they delayed to long, it would cause a cascaded shutdown, and it would take some time to get everything rolling again. The new design should prevent that. Also, recently announced, it will be turned into RockIt mountain at night, featuring the tunes of Van Halen.

Really? Van Halen? That's pretty sweet. I hadn't heard that yet. If the
Aerosmith soundtrack of Rock n' Rollercoaster is being used as a benchmark, the nighttime Space Mountain track should be awesome.

That sounds really neat. I am glad that the changes aren't too drastic, and the RockIt mountain sounds interesting too.

It's my feeling with "RockIt" mountain, Def Leppard would have been a better pick, but that is just me.
