Disney plans layoffs

The Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday said it will eliminate an undisclosed number of jobs as part of a sweeping corporate overhaul at its domestic resorts, which includes plans to combine back-office operations at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Well, we shouldn't honestly be surprised. Disney is feeling this downturn as much as the rest of the US.
The magic only lasts so long.

It's certainly a shame to hear about anyone losing their job (unless it's a Wall Street executive who spent a million bucks to redecorate his office, then it's hilarious).

Did you notice that their first-quarter profits fell 32%? That's some GM-level tanking there. I say we all put a bunch of money in a box and send it to Disney right now, lest they halt production of the direct-to-DVD feature "Snow White 2: The 8th Dwarf".

I'm sorry to hear about those who will have to lose their jobs! I wish the best for them and their families!! In this economy we know things like this are bound to happen no matter how unfortunate it is!

We just got back. The crowds were so large, they extended the operating hours. I wasn't aware of any lack of services or personel. (yet)

It's amazing to think of how bad the economy actually is for companies like Disney to suffer....wow.

Im surprise that disney plans on layoffs :( My boyfriends mom just started to work at the stroller department in magic kingdom yesterday :ccat:

If you look at the original post, you'll see the story's from February. Most of those layoffs have already happened.

Well I'm not surprised, last I heard yearly vacation sales were down.
