Are you 23?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

Or will it be a decrease in merchandise sales and ticket prices? Will we ever go back to having tickets that were $20 a piece?

Croaker was the closest with guessing.

Now I'm confused. What does the layouts have to do with the 23 campaign again? :?

Nothing, Croaker was being sarcastic (I hope). Although, the cost of a ticket being $23 would be nice, but knowing how Disney has conducted business in the past it is more likely that it would be an increase of $23.

I'm going to say 23 classics released on Blu-ray disc to honor the 70th anniversary of Pinnochio. It's the most logical idea that I have been hearing tossed around.

I found a link on the board on the LaughingPlace and they are also speculating their reasons for what it may be. http://mb.laughingplace.com/MsgBoard-T-102867-P-1.asp

This has gotten my hopes up:

23 years ago was 1986, so...

Of course! It's the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of The Great Mouse Detective, which premiered in '86. No doubt the long-awaited release of the Special Limited Edition 4-disc Platinum DVD Treasures set.

In a tin.

Oh, I hope it's true. I really love that movie.

Hmm, maybe. But this seems like a big campaign for just a re-release, right? I don't know...one would expect something a wee bit bigger, I guess. Don't quote me on that, though!

I have to agree.. there is no way all this hype is just for some re-release.. It has to be much bigger than that.

There have been countless major re-releases with much less fanfare. Sorry to say it, but if there was not much fanfare for a major classic like Mary Poppins, there is *NO* way all this fanfare is for sure a minor classic like Great Mouse Detective.

This has to be something MAJOR. BIG TIME... No one has mentioned this... but what if it is a new park in the US? WDW has ALOT of room for new parks....

Man, wouldn't that be awesome?!?!

Wouldn't it? The only feasible thing I can think of would be an announcement of plans to build a third park in DLR. It's no secret that they've got a plot of land that they've been priming for a new park for years now, including a long drawn-out battle with the city for permission to do so. But with so much focus going into DCA at the moment, I would find it hard to believe that they would announce a new park just yet. Maybe in three or four years, but not yet.

And as for WDW; there's been NO rumors for any new park yet, except for their exclusive night-time park that I'm not even sure is happening anymore? Or a planned expansion of AK to turn Minnie's Camp into the Beastly Kingdomme or something like that.

I guess we'll find out soon!

Why am I getting the feeling that once this "23" thing is revealed we're all going to be rolling our eyes?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's something really minor that no one would care about but I don't know.

Could be, but still...big secretive campaign? It can't be just a small thing; that wouldn't make sense. *shrugs*
