Here's the latest and greatest about the Muppets:

For those who don't have time to read the whole thing, Disney is going to start pushing the Muppets in a big way. This means more TV, more products and hopefully more theme park attractions!
Personally, I think it's time to move Pizza Planet to Pixar Place and dedicate a whole space to the Muppets!
Off to try and find where they sell that "I'm Green and I Vote" shirt...

I would love to see more Muppets and a little less Pixar.

I think they should make a new theme park dedicated to the Muppets... I still don't really associate Muppets with classic Disney theme park characters.

I'm happy to hear the Muppets are going to make a come back, but this got me wondering:
Ms. Breier said recent focus groups indicated that some children could not even identify Kermit and Miss Piggy, much less ancillary characters like Fozzie Bear and Gonzo the Great.
Is Kermit not on Sesame Street anymore? I know most (all?) of the rest of them weren't but I remember Kermit doing the news reporter stuff when I was a kid. Or maybe kidlets don't watch SS anymore? I wouldn't blame them. I watched an episode a couple months ago during a bout of insomnia and it was
terrible. Peculiar, sanitized for your protection dreck. There was a song about how nice songs are that had me hoping for spontaneous deafness. I feel sorry for kids these days.
Anyway, I'm with Pirate King Swann, there. More Kermit, less Buzz would be a-okay with me.

This is great news! Muppetvision 3D has me cracking up every time - I can't wait to see what they have planned!

Well then ... I used to think, nothing deserves the High School Musical treatment (especially HSM itself). I've changed my mind. This deserves it.

YAY, more Muppets! I love the Muppets! I wonder they will give the attraction in DHS an update?

More Muppets on TV and in the parks. I could live with that

Just as long as they don't invade every park and every available ride (Like some pixar movies may have done) I'm cool with it.

Yay! I love the muppets! They were a big part of my childhood. I'm glad they're updating the quality of the DHS show. I definitely noticed a bit of a lackluster quality when I was there in June.

the muppets haven't been heavily promoted within the company since the purchace. They were bought in mid 2003, after some bad press from previous owners. Disney was actually in negotiation back when Jim Hensen was still alive, but the deal fell through when he died.
as far as merchandise, they weren't in any of the disney stores, aside from maybe a couple of items over the years. mostly, they have their own store just outside of Muppetvision 3D in MGM.

'S far as I know, plans were to market them based on the success of Muppets Wizard of Oz. Need I say more?

I am so happy to hear this. I love the Muppets and I am getting my daughter hooked too. Our entire family has favorite charaters. Jim Henson is one of my heroes.
