..to create a new theme park for Disney.
What would your theme park be like? Where would it be located, and what kinds of rides would it contain?
I wanna test the creativity of the users in this forum.
My personal idea, I don't want to discuss in case Disney actually gives me a chance to present the idea to them. I'm actually trying to present something to them, its in a powerpoint presentation.
Let's just say that it involves a gaming company.
Anywho, what kind of park would you build?

i was about to say a villian park, but i really dont think there would be enought to work with. Then I thought of a new type of park, kinda liek EPCOT, but different. Not centered around Disney characters, but they can be incorperated, an exploration park. Now I feel thjis can be amazing!!! It's not just about the future, which was epcot's original plan, this is all about exploring, everything, you can have an indiana jones type ride exploring a planet, you can have a new rollercoaster designed to be like a mathcbox where everything is much bigger, and you go through crazy obsticles, a submarine ride to explore the vast oceans, a good dark ride could be a ride through a computer.... as humans we can vertually explore anything we want, so the ideas can be endless!

I think a villian park would be amazing. It's something new since we're always seeing the lighter side and all the heroes get their own rides. Why shun the villians? They're cool, too!

mine would involve the adult film industry, gambling, ....oh wait Vegas is a reality...i guess i would go with a time theme. start around 1500 and every 50 years have a different land/area. imagine the Carousel of Progress meets Epcot World Showcase.

with the villans idea, i just dont see there being enough lands, how would you do that? and i just cant tihnk of rides besides coasters to make abotu villians, thats all...and trsu me i relaly did sit down adn try to have ideas about that, cause i would love it! i think it would eb much ewasier to have a villian land in a park than an entire park for vilians.

there could be lands like for captain hook and ursula, you'd set it as a tropical type of land that could replace adventureland. maleficent/the evil queen could have the castle/fantasyland-type rides. percival c. mcleach from the rescuers down under would take over frontierland. scar could take over critter country. syndrome from the incredibles could take over tomorrowland. the villians from ratatoullie could have new orleans square. stromboli or the queen of hearts could have main street usa. and as for mickey's toontown, you'd take the enemies mickey has.
it'd all depend on how big you'd make it. and yes, i did take a lot of time to think this out

Who's to say that they need more than two? EPCOT has two, Future World and World Showcase, and it seems to be doing alright.
Something like:
Magical Villians and None Magical Villians (can't think of a better name)

I'd be lame and say Villiansville.

I don't like the villains idea, simply because every park has become a Disney movie park. Another park full of attractions based on Disney movies, even if it is from another perspective, doesn't add much.
I'd rather see something as different as Epcot is from the Magic Kingdom -- at least before some genius decided that what people really wanted from Epcot was for it to be the same as the other parks.
If I had $1.5 billion, I'd spend it moving most of the new attractions around so they're actually in the right places (tossing out a few of the lamer ones) and then clearing out all the poorly-themed stuff with The Weedwacker of Pure Artistic Vision (or at least The Dustbuster of Taking a Little Pride in Your Work). Then I'd go through and restore all the best aspect of the parks which have slowly degraded over time. Future World would again be futuristic, etc. And do a much better job of maintenance.
Then I'd completely reformat the Studios with a decent theme. Hell, anything is better than the current theme. I suppose I'd even rather have a villains park there...
Um, I think I'm out of money now...

Let's be honest though, Epcot's reputation wasn't exactly stellar. The general public was not interested in Horizons or Motions. Kids were not enjoying it at all, and adults complained about the lack of things for kids to do, and then we had the roller coaster folks angry that there wasn't enough for adults.
I started working at Epcot back in 2003, and the more they changed, the less the guests complained, even if it meant the fixing and disappearance of some of the classics (Living Seas, R.I.P.). Test Track is still a smash, Mission: Space is starting to gather an audience, Soarin' has the highest approval rating from guests in the history of Walt Disney World, and then Nemo and Friends has wait times Living Seas never dreamed about. The total changing of Epcot wasn't exactly what Epcot was all about, but it was something that had to be done to bring in the guests.
I understand where you are coming from, but looking from a financial perspective, they did some very smart moves. But I want you to elaborate on some of your ideas. What rides do you think need to be changed? What rides/attractions do you want to get rid of?

I'd like to see more rides in the World Showcase area. Many of the countries, like Morocco for example, don't really seem to have an attraction associated with it.

*Test Track sucks
*Mission: Space is really cool once but I left it saying I would probably never ride again
*Soarin' rocks!
*Nemo and Friends needs to pack their bags and find a new ocean!
*Communicore is a loss!
Horizons and WoM were stellar and I WAS A KID when I rode them.
Bean counters always find a reasons for what they want and a reason to kill won't they don't! If Walt had let his bean counter (Roy) dictate his actions, there would be NO Disney now! Eisner and his bean counters RUINED [PERIOD] EPCOT Center by turning it into Epcot!
EPCOT Center was a learning experience and should still be one. They have 100%, totally, without a doubt lost all sight of the "charter" for EPCOT

We've kinda done this discussion to death in numerous threads in the WDW forum, so I'll try to keep my answers short...
DIAC1987 wrote:Let's be honest though, Epcot's reputation wasn't exactly stellar.
This "common knowledge" is not backed up by attendance numbers. People were still going to Epcot in huge numbers and spending tons of dough there.
There
was a significant problem, and it was that the attractions were supposed to be futuristic, but hadn't been updated for 20 years. Changes were necessary, but virtually all of them have conflicted with the stated theming (no distinction between Fantasyland and Future World, fossil fuel-burning cars in Future World, etc.) and the consensus on a lot of them is that they sucked (eg, the new Imagination ride).
Anyway, the net result is that any given attraction can be shoe-horned into any of the four parks, regardless of theming. Why even call them "theme parks" at that point? What we've got now are four really nice malls with rides.

I must have missed these discussions because I am rather new here, so sorry if I am treading of familiar ground.
I am not saying that the new Epcot is great, I'm just saying that the new Epcot is bringing in people like never before. On 2006, we almost beat Disneyland Paris in terms of attendance. Once again, sorry if I brought in a familiar topic.
But this isn't about Epcot, its about our dream parks! Come on now, we need more ideas!

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snippy, I just wanted to spare all the regulars another of my canned rants that they are surely sick of by now.
If you have a lot of patience (and spare time) and are interested in our previous discussions, here are a few threads you might want to check out:
Schnemo rants in this one.
And again.
And yet again.
Doesn't this guy have anything better to do?
Argh, enough with the whining, Schnemo.
