I watch "One Life to Live" on ABC and one of the funny/annoying things on the show is how Disney references are written into the scene or the dialogue... To me, it comes off very much as overkill and fake (yes, even for a soap opera ) because it comes off as very forced.

For instance, when Finding Nemo was new, there was a scene where they were talking about fishing and there just happened to be a Nemo on the sofa in the scene. And not only did they have to make sure NEMO was front and center (rather than the actors), then they had to pick up Nemo while they were talking about fishing and make a blatant reference to the film.

It was so corny. They'll make frequent references to recent films as a way to give "free PR" it seems like. Maybe they think I'll think, "Hey! Bo Buchanan likes Pirates 3! I better go see it then!" as if I'd be swayed by what a fictional Disney/ABC character "thinks."

Do you find these much in other ABC shows, those of you who watch any of their programming?

I don't watch regular TV anymore, save for a few shows. Actually, come to think of it, only really 1 show on air at this time - Hell's Kitchen. to many commercials on TV nowadays.

but, back on topic - I haven't seen anything forced like that, as I'm normally not home, nor do I have any desire, to watch soap operas on TV, and I can't say I've seen too many Disney references in any of the shows I've seen at night (about 9PM EST and later).

I can't wait til this trend gets to Lost. "Hey Sawyer?" "Yeah Hurley" "Sawyer, you know that I feel like Donald Duck on Space Mountain right now, you know before we crashed, Disney had some great travel packages so we can actually to see Space Mountain when we get out of this mess, so when we get back, lets you and I go to Disney.com and book our vacation as soon as we can!" "You got it buddy!" and the viewers expression at home:

That is too funny!

I have noticed some shows on ABC having Disney references before and I remember us saying "oh yeah they are owned by Disney" but can't think of which ones at the moment (they were sitcoms in the evening). Of course we watch the Disney Channel 90% of the time so everything is Disney related there!

Oh lord, that does not surprise me in the least. Sometimes you have to wonder what this world is coming to. I mean, it is easy to do it in a sitcom format, "hey guys, we won a trip to Disney World, let's go", but an hour long drama, that has to be a tad bit harder. Especially on ones like Lost or Boston Legal. I just can't wait to see how the mouse gets it done.
