Where would you build?

lets see some imagination here. Disney has tried its magic out of the south and has been successful (tokyo, hong kong etc.) but it also has failed.....(Disney's America....) so with the past in the past lets dream about the future.

Theme Park ideas! Where would you build a new Disney? What would you have there and what would you not have there? would it be another Magic Kingdom? would you mix the 4 parks in Florida and place them in Missouri? would you put one in Ethiopia? Siberia? Greenland? Chicago? would you go with a whole new theme? type small snippets or give us elaborate details....(posting mine soon!)

I like one of teh ideas wher disney would build a themed hotel and an e-ticket ride in major cities. This would allow you to get a taste of the parks while you may be on a trip to that city.

I do believe, however, that the parks should be some protected so that we don't wind up with another Six Flags franchise.

Because of Walt's years in KC, I think Missouri would be a great place for a Disney park, maybe not the the magnitude of WDW, but a park of some kind. (the fact that it would be closer to home isn't bad either :P )

I would build in Coney Island. I would take stuff from all the parks, plus add some new stuff to celebrate the history of Coney. The resort would be themed like the board walk area, only it would really be at the beach. I would also enclose it so it could be year round. I wouldn't make it real big, so it was a taste of WDW. Placing it in Coney would draw people from all over the East coast (from Maine to DC).

Just buying and cleaning up Coney Island would be a great thing for Disney to do. 2 American classics together :)

For me, I would not want Disney to build anywhere right now. They need to focus on what they have. I think adding another park would just take away from the parks they have now.

I disagree, If Disney built a few small venues around the country, I feel it would bring more people to the big parks. If they built in some large urban areas. People who normaly wouldn't go to WDW would get a taste and be drawn to the large resort parks.

Jacca,
That was not my point. I was talking more of the quality of the parks not the volume of guest.

You're right. Maybe with the Pixar involved, Disney is getting out of the bean counters make creative decisions era. So much of what's been done in the last 10 to 15 years has been done so badly(CA, Dis Paris, and a few others) and cheaply. You make a good point

After they fix all their current theme park messes, I think upstate NY or the PA countryside would be great. I would build a classic Disneyland Park and an updated Disneysea, putting some Disney-Studio features on the American Waterfront and have a new Boardwalk area reminicent of Paradise Pier.

I would never want them to try and recreate epcot though. Not because it's such a burden for them, but because of it's heritage, it's unique theme and how there's nothing else like it in the world. You shouldn't have two things like that. It's like having two statues of Liberty or two Eiffel Towers. I was pretty upset when Disney was throwing the "Westcot" idea around.

I would plop it right smack-dab in the middle of Central Texas, and here's why:

1) I would be able to go all the time.
2) It's gorgeous country.
3) I would be able to go all the time.
4) It's got very similar climate and weather to Central Florida.
5) I would be able to go all the time.
6) My husband has come up with all kinds of cool "Texas" themed stuff they could do.
7) I would be able to go all the time.
