Which attraction do you wish was made into a film?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

Which attraction do you wish was made into a film?

Post by casrin » Jul Sat 07, 2007 9:39 pm

So there are attractions that were movies first (Star Tours/Star Wars, Temple of the Forbidden Eye/Indiana Jones films, Splash Mountain/Song of the South etc).

There are attractions that became movies (HM, PotC, Country Bears).

What attraction would you want to see adapted into a film?

truthfully, I can't see any WDW attraction made into a feature film. I liked the Pirates series, as that could really be expanded on. All the other movies were more-or-less a way to waste time (though I can think of better ways to waste that time). Everything else that's there now is either already movie-based, or work well for the attraction they are, and wouldn't stand up to movie adaptation.

I think Phantom Manor/Thunder Mesa could would make an excelent movie, although, there's probably no chance of that now that HM has been made. There's already so many fan-made movies about it, and the story itself already seems like it's been based on a movie. Plus that awesome instrumental "movie-sounding" soundtrack. The entire Thunder Mesa area also makes a great setting for a western/romance/tragedy/ghost story/. Pirates works because it incorporates many of those themes, minus the western and adding the caribbean. I can even imagine a cool action sequence/train chase inside Thunder Mountain.

Yeah! Phantom Manor should be made into a movie. If it did, it would have to make it more serious and less comedic, or suffer the fate of its predecessor, Haunted Mansion.

Well, now there is talk about The Jungle Cruise becoming a movie. I think that if done right that could be good. Like A Mummy movie, with comedy and great action. I'd also like to see Figment in a classic family movie that emphasizes on never letting go of your imagination.

I think the Malestrom could be a cool movie. I once read someone's great idea for a story where the main character fights the villain on one of those rigs at the end of the movie. (Like the ending of the ride). It could have the trolls and all in the film, the magic... maybe going back in time with the Vikings.

I agree with those who mentioned Figment. I would love to see him and Dream Finder featured in their own film. Maybe it would also help bring some "spark" back to the original Imagination attraction.

Other than that, I can't really imagine any of the other attractions being turned into films except maybe Jungle Cruise. But even then, I think that may be pushing it a bit.

Mmm difficult - I think that Disney would be taking a huge risk making another film from a ride - HM was hardly successful and the link between Pirates and the ride is rather tenuous. I think it's better for them to follow their usual method - making rides out of movies - than the other way around.

To me, there were enough references to the ride through scenes and lines in the Pirates films to make the connection for me. When Barbosa yelled about "You may not pass this way again!" and all that in 3... That was just awesome.

A Dreamfinder and Figment movie... that would be cool. There'd be a lot of creative potential for a story there!

Whilst I agree that there are 'script' links between the film and ride (Pirates), I just felt that the films didn't catch the overall concept - the music, whilsts certainly good - could fit any action film as it uses very few references to the muscial styles associated with pirates (shanty etc.) - But hay, that's another post!

That's the one I was thinking about but couldn't remember! Good one Spaulo! I think it would be an awesome adventure movie in the west. It could be a family or some cowboys come across this old mining town which is suppose to be haunted. And the rail cars take off on their own... all the while fighting off a group of bad guys searching for the gold.
