My kids' elementary school does a large arts project each year. One year it was a Christmas pageant. Another year it was a production of Annie.

This past year was very special - the kids recorded a CD of Disney songs. Each class, plus the school choirs, recorded songs from Disney movies and shows (22 in total). My DW was an associate producer, and the end product is a beautiful package containing some spirited and moving performances of songs like "I Can Go the Distance", "Feed the Birds", and "We're All In This Together". The CD, appropriately, is titled "Together". The school bought song rights and worked with professional musicians for arrangements and recording. The CD release party at the school had red carpet rolled out for the stars (all the students) and was a wonderful celebration of them, for them.

I am very proud of my kids and their enthusiasm. They truly feel like stars. (I am also encouraging my DW to flip a copy of the CD to Disney Corp.)

Has anyone else been part of any Disney-themed projects, either at school or otherwise?

Just when I was a kid I had to do a Biographical report... I chose Mickey Mouse!

I did a biographical report booklet on Walt when I was in middle school.

when I did a report of France in middle school, I had a section for Disneyland Paris.

My son Erich had a term project last year where they had to spend one million dollars on a vaction. He did a 20 person world wide Disney park tour. He had to go on line a get real prices for everything. He spent $999,992, he drove us nuts doing it! He did get an A+. GOOD JOB ERICH!!

In Spanish my senior year, we made "calacas" for the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) right around Halloween. I made mine a Mickey Mouse. So its a Mickey just sitting down, made of clay and painted, with a skeleton face to fit the Spanish tradition.

If I find the picture, I'll scan it and post it.

I did an art project in high school that was strongly Pirates of the Caribbean themed. It was a bit mixed-media thing we had to build on a 'theme' - pirates was awesome for the variety of 'things' you could incorporate (maps, parrots, treasure, blahblah). Lots of fun.

I remember in 6th grade we had to do a " What career we'd like to have in the future." brochure. You had to design the whole thing with information on the career with as MUCH stuff as you could find... so at that age I wanted to be a Disney animator so of course I did animation and incorperated a 12 fold brochure on what it meant to be an animator, how much they made and all of the in's and outs of the profession... I got an A folks. Yeah I was pretty proud of myself, and besides the fact that I strayed away from it to try and do film making I really think that was probably one of the most amazing projects I ever did in school as a kid.

Oh and I also remember doing this AWESOME Kingdom Hearts Art I did... it was this tile painting project that we had to do, but after I sketched it out and colored it in with the dyes it was SO cool... actually come to think of it I think I have it matted somewhere if I find it I'll try and post it for you guys to see. Oh and it was all hand drawn too no tracing allowed

I'll look for it, DisBeamer. We usually have it with our Halloween decorations... so it might be another few months before I can get my hands on it again. Hehe!
