Disney Direct to Video Dead!!!!
Oh this is should have happened sooo long ago.
DisneyToon Studios has pushed out Sharon Morrill. She was the executive behind the direct to video division.
Now with Lasseter at the helm of all creative decisions, the steady stream of subpar movies will now stop. DisneyToon Studios was now officially out of the sequel business, except for a few movies in the pipe.
I couldn't have happened soon enough for me.
These direct to video movies were of lower quality and undermined the feature releases.

Wh-wha-what!
But what about The Hunchback of Notre Dame 14 - "The Hump Removed"
Now if only we can get back to some nice hand drawn 2D feature films.

Hand drawn or Computer animated, as long as the story is good, I'll be happy!JWG wrote:Wh-wha-what!

Don't know why...but this just kicked an idea into my head.the last signs of Eisner are being kicked out
anyone remember this Clint Eastwood movie? "Eiger Sanction"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072926/plotsummary
The Eisner Sanction Lasseter an Art teacher and collector who finances his hobby by performing the odd sanction (assassination) for an obscure government bureau. He is forced to take a case where he must find out which of the members of a Disney Toon Studios is the Cartoon killer he has been given as a target by joining an expedition to climb the treacherous Matterhorn.[/img]

I wanted to say the Iger Sanction..But I'm hoping it's the Lassiter sanction and we finally go back to it being Disney. I also realize it might become a Pixar show case. Lets face it WALT DIED A LONG TIME AGO and looking at the polls on this a other web sites, there are few of us out there that remember what the dream was.Croaker wrote:Don't know why...but this just kicked an idea into my head.the last signs of Eisner are being kicked out

Hopefully it will be about the magic once again. I just have a hard time believing that there is anyone out there that is not going to just promote their next project or favorite movie that they have made.
Rides at Disney were to tell a story, not to tie in a movie or video. or TV show. It was about the RIDE!! With the money involved I don't think there is anyone brave enough to tell the story with the ride and then worry about what other medium they tie in.

This is good news. Well, it is if they put their efforts into good original movies instead of just firing everybody who's not working on the few existing projects.

I think Direct to DVD has a place, and hopefull they can focus on the appropriate niche. Playhouse Disney movies, maybe even a few Disney originals that do not over expose characters from their main theatrical features, etc.
There was big money in direct to DVD, that's revenue I'm surprised they're willing to give up - Lasseter better hope its realized somewhere else. Strip direct to DVD of their ability to over expose the main characters and movie releases and have them focus on more appropriate lesser (specific to TV or DVD only) characters.
There's a happy medium I'm sure.

Thank God! I think there is a happy medium, too, for things like Playhouse Disney - but the sequels to Cinderella, Lion King, Mulan, Little Mermaid were Saturday morning cartoon disasters.

HURRAAAY! I'm so glad they are dead! The problem I had with them is the quality and the stories were just awful! It was kind of shameful that these films, and lets be honest, were simply to make a buck. They knew parents would buy them for their kids and that's exactly what happened! I'm glad Lasseter put his foot down. It really seems like he's trying to bring back the magic of Disney animated films.
