Miceage.com wrote:Some questions haunt man; Why are we here? What is the meaning of Life? Are we alone in the universe? Meaningful subjects that keep scholars up at night.
And then there are the really important questions for discerning readers such as yourself, like which Disney park is the best?
I have been fortunate enough to visit all of the Disney resorts the world over and more so I have been to each within the last two years. It's about time we tackle a serious subject, the answer of which has eluded mankind for decades and so once and for all we will answer the burning question: which is the best Disney theme park in the world?
Judging the parks fairly takes more than just a casual poll or a throw away opinion. There are thousands and thousands of elements that must gel together in order for a theme park to click into high gear and fire on all cylinders. All of these must be considered. It is also important to have some sort of level playing field for the judging. I've only taken two trips to Tokyo DisneySea for a total of eight days or so, while I have been to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World dozens of times and hundreds of days. It's only human nature to start to become bored with a park you have seen so many times. On the other hand a newer park holds all sorts of possibilities and potential, if not careful this newness can be blinding and perhaps lull one into an artificial sense of grandeur.
In addition there are factors that change and evolve. Things like the upkeep and maintenance of the parks fit into this category. For example Disneyland endured years of neglect which plunged it into a sad state of disrepair. Currently a massive rehab program is underway which is correcting many of the problems Disneyland has accumulated over recent years. In this case we will look at the most recent changes and judge the parks on not only how they look right now, but also how they will be AFTER current rehab projects are completed.

Although Disneyland's tomorrowland is a piece of junk and has been negelected for a long time it's still the father of all the other parks. If I look back to my childhood where I have been to Disneyland and Magic Kingdom my fondest memories are of Disneyland.
Though, I'm sure I'd be quite impressed with DLP and TDL just because they would be new to me. But still wouldn't be the best for nostalgic reasons.

I'm assuming the "Magic Kingdom" refers to WDW, am I correct? If this is the case, probably should change the poll option.

well, DLR has the Magic Kingdom park (the original) I'm sure, then Magic Kingdom at WDW... I think the main park at each Disney park (with the castle and hub-like design) is generally refered to the Magic Kingdom...
In any case, I knew what you meant, so no difference to me... just that other people may be confused...

Although I have not been to DLR the pictures look interesting. Everything seems so close and weaved together like the monorail going over the 20,000 Leagues. We dont have that at WDW, things are spread out way more. So I voted on for Magic Kingdom WDW. Although the closeness of the DLR attractions is nice for a home town fair I think W. Disney learned from the 1st park and improved on the second.
I've always heard that right outside the gates to DLR there is a McDonalds (or such things). It takes 5-10 minutes to get off WDW property once you start your car, which is a nice calming time before hitting I-4.

True, Disneyland is smack dab in the middle of a town. It's not Disney's fault. Unless you want to blame Walt for not buying more land in the area. It's because Disneyland become so popular that the city and companies started building around Disneyland.
So, yes, there is a McDonald's about a 10 minute walk from the gate of Disneyland. Disneyland isn't emmersed like the MK at WDW. I remember when I last went to WDW it felt so strange to ride the train at MK and not have this huge wall on the left side of the train. There's greenery that goes as far as the eye can see. So strange. I miss it.

i dont think i should vote cuz ive only been to DLR and WDW. DLR is closer to home and thus ive been there waay more times than WDW, so i know im heavily biased.
however i did enjoy all the scenery on the monorail going from each park to the next at WDW. things at DLR are much more squished together, but its a faster walk to wherever you're going. and your motel/hotel is like 5 minutes walking from the parks.

I voted Magic Kingdom because it has so many memories for me. Plus, I totally agree with the immersion - at the MK, and at all of WDW, you are totally surrounded by Disney everywhere you look.
I've never been to paris or tokyo, but I'd love to one day - I don't think it would change my vote, however.

Has anyone voted for a park OTHER THAN the one they live near / grew up with?
I must confess that I voted for DLR mostly because of all the happy memories I have from it. I've been to DW twice, and thought it was FANTASTIC, and possibly believe that, in theory, it is better because it's so vast and there's so much more there. But it's hard to argue with the power of nastalgia.
I'll bet most of us are biased!

For those of you that actually live near them it is probably easier than those of us set in between them. Up here in the frozen tundra we're about equal from either by plane give or take a bit. So we don't have those "drop in for the day" trips like those of you on teh coasts get to have!
I'm kind of partial to the MK at WDW because of fact that I went there first before DL and more times as well. And I'll also agree on the 'total experiance' mentioned before, that is great. But at the same time DL is such a classic. And both have great memories...

Maybe the best choice to make is to say that they're all great!!! After all, when I'm at one, I rarely think to myself, "man, I sure wish I was at the other one."
After all, going to ANY Disney park is all about being truly in-the-moment. You could say it's a Zen thing.
