The powers that be felt Tangled is better than Rapunzel? C'mon
My guess is that they took so many liberties with the story that they felt they had to change the name.

Just like James Cameron decided to change his movie from "Pocahontas" to "Avatar".

Is the new name definite? The 2009 Annual Report promotes it as Rapunzel?

I've heard that it's official, but here's hoping they change it back. Supposedly the higher ups think this will bring more boys out to see the film. I went to see 'boy' films as a kid, why can't the boys enjoy a film with a female lead (for the record, my husband is totally obsessed with Princess and the Frog)?

well, I made fun of the Frog Princess, and I thought it sounded lousy, I've only seen the trailers and it looked pretty good, so maybe this will be an OK movie too.

I had my doubts about Princess and the Frog too...but we both loved it!!! Hopefully the Rapunzel movie will be just as good...

Did anyone else see the trailer for Tangled at Toy Story 3 (two Potato Head thumbs way up, by the way)? I was disappointed to say the least. Looked like a Dreamworks film to me, way too modern for a traditional Disney fairy tale. On the other hand, I wasn't thrilled with the Princess and the Frog trailers either and that turned out fantastic. Thoughts?

I thought it was funny, to be honest. I usually judge by trailers and not reviews so I will still take a look at it.

I really enjoyed the Princess and the Frog. Don't go by the trailers, it was a real honest Disney movie. Great story, songs and animation.

I saw it and agree that it looks like another Dreamworks film. But, there are a lot of Disney movies that looked odd from the previews but ended up being really good - Up, Ratatouille, Enchanted.....

The Disney marketing team has mishandled a lot of movies recently (Even Toy Story 3 didn't look that promising for a while) so its no surprise the Tangled trailer didn't look too good either. But I'll wait for another trailer or some more footage to see if I'll give it a shot.
