My other post got me thinking...
Why is it that Miley Cyrus's singing career has to be hidden behind the Hannah Montana label? I mean, I know its Disney Marketing for one, but the thing is that she can't hide behind that label forever if she really wants to have a somewhat lengthy singing career. I mean, if LeAnn Rimes can do it, she could as well....

I mean, they did not do this to Hillary, I mean Lizzie, I mean Hillary....

LeAnn Rimes isn't Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter. I think "Hannah Montana" wants to stay the eff away from her father's achey-breaky legacy.

With humor... then why have him in the program to begin with?

I think it's more to do with the show than her singing career.

Hannah Montana is a super-cute show with a lot of appeal to kids. She has a "singing" / acting career with Disney. I think that's pretty much as far as it goes. IMHO, her vocal talent really isn't all that spectacular.

As she grows up the target audience she has right now will grow up with her.
Will she be allowed to evolve enough within the Disney environment so that her current fan base stays loyal? Time will tell.
She can always bail on Disney and re-brand herself if it doesn’t. This is probably easier to do if you’re not using your real name in the first place.

Since when did vocal talent = success.

Oh so her real name ISN'T Hannah Montana? Shows what I know - I figured Billy Ray gave his daughter a quirky celeb name from the get-go. I didn't know that she had a different real name.

Shows what I know about Disney in the "modern" age. :p

I love Hannaah Montana...it's a cute,innocent show...reminds me of the days of Prime Time for kids like when I was young... the Brady Bunch or more recently Full House.Sweet fun shows with a lesson to be learned.

To me Miley isn't "hiding" behind the name.It was a name Disney made up and she's going with their marketing.They did it with Lizzie Maguire/Hilary Duff too.The show wasn't written for Miley she actually additioned for the part of her friend Lily.I agree with Joe90 as she grows she can throw out HM and just be Miley.


Her new album Hannah Monatana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is letting us see Miley.The songs are a bit different than Hannah's songs.


A bit of Trivia...her real name isn't Miley either...that's her nickname because she smiled so much as a little one.Her name is Destiny Hope Cyrus.

If she will remain in the business her talent will outlast the Hannah Montana character. She can sing and it is refreshing to have a clean, wholesome show for little girls like my daughter to look up to. My daughter who is 8 knows she is Miley Cyrus and Hannah is just pretend so Im sure people get it and it will not hurt her.

I has to do with the show. It is about a girl who is a popstar but wants to go to public school but doesnt want all the attention, so she comes up with an identity so she can be a normal kid. and since kids are used to seeing her as Hannah Montana when she sings on the show, she just does concerts as Hannah for a publicity thing. I have seen on a commercial where she is singing as Miley Cyrus, so its not that she is "hiding" shes just doing it for her tv show.

Right now, the show is bigger than Miley is. Like Hillary Duff, she needs to become bigger than the show (Lizze McGuire) before she can go solo. Besides, I'm sure Disney has under contract.

I think alot of it has to do with the parents. I'm sure many of the kids know Hannah Montana isn't her real name, such as my kids. But many of the parents, or other adults, who have the money and purchase the items for gifts for their kids wouldn't know her by any other name.

my thoughts are "show related" if she releases albums under "Hannah," then it promotes the show and vice-a-verse. Like Joe90 said, it also has to do with her being able to break away from Disney as Miley some day, or being stuck with them, since she's known as Hannah Disney has the hold on her, nobody knows who "Miley Cyrus" is.
