Cars Opening Weekend

Post by GoofyInOhio » Jun Tue 06, 2006 1:02 pm

What is your guess as to how much Cars will take in this weekend?
Also, do you plan on seeing Cars this weekend?
Do you think this weekend will help silence the critics that Disney bought Pixar?

I'll go first. I think it will make between 70-80 Million. (Hopefully more). I think the hype, and the pixar history will get it up to over 70 Million. I don't think it's going to get anywhere near Shrek 2 numbers though.

I'm going to see the movie this weekend, but I'm waiting to see if it's at the local Drive-In before I get my tickets. No better place to see a movie in my opinion. 8)

I'm hoping it helps silence the critics, but if it doesn't make enough money it could just add fuel to the fire.

No clue on how much it will make, but I know it will be getting our business Friday night! 8)

No choice for under 50 million? I think it will do 70, thereabouts. I will be at DL this weekend. So, if it is really crowded, I might check it out at DTD.

I guess I was thinking there was no way it would do less than 50 million. My bad.

It's looking like it will be close to 60 Million which to me is a huge downer. The last two movies did over $70 Million their opening weekend. Still I LOVED the movie as did my family and friends that saw it.

Just read estimates of 62.8 million for opening weekend! We loved it and will probably see it again - it has maybe the single funniest scene of any Pixar movie ever - won't spoil it, but if you've ever been cow tipping you are going to LOVE this movie. :D

Yeah I read that too. $62 Million is still a good opening weekend, but after the last couple Pixar releases I thought it would do more.

Aklrulz - That scene was hilarious. I know exactly what you mean. Without a doubt for me Mater stole the show. Not giving anything away here, but Larry the Cable Guy was great!! :goofy_bounce:

Make sure you stay for the credits everyone if you haven't seen it. Well worth the 5 extra minutes.

Not sure if it's alright to post a link, but this kind of sums it up. I had no idea that 40% of kids were still in school. It's the middle of June. Geesh.

From my point of view, this movie had less appeal to me than Pixar's last two movies. I will eventually see it, but probably after it goes to DVD.

I ranked it around the level of Bugs Life (probably a notch above it).
