To add to this, keep an eye on all your players. Read up on the notes and injuries, etc. One of my WRs is a game time decision. If he plays and I don't play him and he does well, I'm SOL.
Any tips on where to easily catch up on injuries to players? The sports section in the paper? On-line somewhere?
Go to either ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/nfl/) or CBSSports.com (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl). I use both. They have team by team coverage and you can also follow individual player stats. They both have team by team injury updates.

Thanks! I'm never afraid to ask questions ~ that is how I learn new things! And yay for me not having to slog through the sports section. I would hate to break my habit of only reading the "In the Bleachers" comic in that section every day

Amy - The best places are ESPN.go.com or NFL.com, but when you look at your roster your players should have icons next to their name. It should have the latest information on that player and all you have to do is click on the icon.

Thank you! (In my best Johny Carson) I did not know that. I like CBS sports better. IMHO

That sounds even easier! I have a feeling I am going to be a terrible manager :(

Jacca, NaCler really explained that well with the starting situation. I was actually going to put it up for vote if we only had 10 teams for the draft to add a second QB slot.

Amy, I would advise checking nfl.com. The 1 EST games usually have their injuries posted on there about 30 minutes before. The icons next to the player might not update until it is too late. I don't always trust that. NFL.com I find to be the best since they do post the official inactive lists for each team.

How do I drop a player that I know will be out for the season? Montario Hardesty is out with a torn ACL but I tried the "drop" but didn't see where I can choose to drop him...
EDIT: I just figured out he is on the bench, but wouldn't I want to drop him and try to pick up an uninjured player who can be on the bench if I need him?

You can go search for a player. After you find a player you like, go add him. It will then ask you for who you would like to drop. Select that player and complete the transaction.

Also, keep in mind that the season will start this coming Thursday night.

And don't worry if it doesn't show you've won or lost. Even if you don't have any players in the Monday Night game, it won't be "official" until the end of that game.

I'm not sure how long Len has it setup for but usually waivers are for 2 days.

What is a waiver and what does it do?

Amy - Ok... bear with me on this one. On your team page you will see your waiver position, i.e. 1 of 12, 5 of 12, etc... This tells you what priority you have if you want to pickup a player on waivers... don't lose me now.

After the games are played each week every player available (meaning not on somebody's team) go onto waivers for 2 days. This means that any team that wants that player must submit a waiver claim for the player. If you are 1 of 12, that means you will get the player when the 2 days are over. If you are 6th of 12 that means that the 5 teams in front of you have a chance to grab that player before you do. Once you grab a player off of waivers, you then move to the end of the waiver priority. Meaning you are then 12 of 12.

A player that is dropped from a team in our league will also have to clear waivers and go through the process listed above.

Waivers just protect the other teams in the league so that it is not simply a first come first serve basis. I hope this helps.

Amy - I will send you a message this week before Thursday making sure you have it straight before Thursday night's game.

You actually explained that very well NaCler! I think I need to go check where I am in the line-up for waivers...scurrying off...
Ok, so I am #11 so I guess I won't worry about it for a few weeks anyhow...
