At World's End

I thought some of the references were too forced. They go over the waterfall and the screen goes black and all you hear is the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It just didn't flow very well. Barbarossa's lines (that were from the original attraction) were all said, it seemed, when they were about to go over the waterfall. Some of them just didn't make sense in regards to the situation.
Do you think that the fight at the beginning was similar to the end part of the Pirates ride with all of the dynamite? (Trying to find other references).

I liked all the references to the ride. I think the tie-in gave some coherency to the ride. I guess we really are sent to Davey Jone's locker in the ride!
The questions I have that didn't make sense to me in the movie are:
If they didn't have a ship to begin with, how did they get to Singapore?
Did everyone just leave Elizabeth on that island at the end?
Does Will not age now and Elizabeth does age?

Yeah. Good questions. I have some ideas.
"One scene cut explained that if Calypso had greeted Davy Jones after his ten years of ferrying dead souls, then he would have been freed of his duty: in turn, Will is freed of his captaincy as Elizabeth remains faithful to him ten years later."
Perhaps that means that he will age normally after that.
They might need a faster ship. Also, they were really there to get the charts to World's End, so it probably was just a reason to be there.slotofkit wrote: If they didn't have a ship to begin with, how did they get to Singapore?
That's what it seemed. At the very end it shows Elizabeth and her son waiting for Will on the island.slotofkit wrote: Did everyone just leave Elizabeth on that island at the end?
I found this on wikipedia explaining a scene cut from the movie.slotofkit wrote: Does Will not age now and Elizabeth does age?

I loved the little joke they had towards the end of the film - when they have the little pow-wow on the sandbar before the final battle, when Davy Jones was standing in a bucket as he "can't step foot on land for near a decade"...

That explains a lot. I was wondering about that - I mean with Will returning for only one day, that didn't seem to be too happy for anyone involved. Of course the alternative was that he wouldn't live at all, so I was satisfied.I found this on wikipedia explaining a scene cut from the movie.

Does anyone know why they removed the scene? Perhaps because the Flying Dutchman must always have a captain and they didn't really want to extend the movie that long?
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

Could be they removed it to add closure to the movie. This way if they don't do a 4th one At Worlds End is kinda wrapped up?
And if they do a 4th they can add that piece of the story back in.

On Wikipedia, it explains that they wanted to cut the film's time. That is why they took the scene out.
"Filming finished on January 10, 2007 in Molokai, and the first assembly cut was three hours. Twenty minutes were removed, not including end credits, though producer Jerry Bruckheimer maintained that the long running time was needed to make the final battle work in terms of build-up."

Of course Wikipedia isn't a hundred percent accurate. I ask with the mindset of they didn't put it in the film for a reason, so it still makes me wonder about the aging. Because Will still hasn't aged for 10 years, so even if he is released from the curse, he's always 10 years behind Elizabeth.

Yes. Your theory on Will being 10 years younger reminds me of the theory I have on how Hermionie in Harry Potter is older because of her use of the Time Turner. Sorry, I digress. Maybe Will just looks 10 years younger. It seemed like Elizabeth didn't change much after 10 years (at the end of the credits.)slotofkit wrote:Of course Wikipedia isn't a hundred percent accurate. I kinda hope he's not taken out. It's a great effect. He's dead now, but as evidenced in AWE, you can still see/talk to the dead in the Locker, so he could stay in the ride...

It has been interesting reading all of the comments here. It helps to answer a bunch of questions that I had.
We went to see the movie as soon as it came out and I did not care for it as much as the others. It was too gory for me
I absolutely loved the first one and nothing has been able to top it!
I do wish in a way they could have left out some of the gore and violence and made it PG so that my children could have gone. They also love the first one but I did not feel that it would be good for them to see the 2nd or 3rd at this time, maybe when they are older.
