This has probably been mentioned before, but I love all the stories that go with the buildings, attractions and other structures in the parks. From paintings to props to signs and things.

You just reminded me of another detail that I would never have realized had I not read about it. At WDW The buildings around the Rivers of America are in order by region and era, so starting at the Haunted Mansion and taking a walk to BTM is like traveling from New England to the old west (with a quick glimpse of the south around the Splash Mountain area). The part that I found most interesting was a paved segment between the two lands that is supposed to represent the Mississippi River. It's no wonder these two lands were listed together in early guide maps.

the little plaque in Morocco in the restaurant, with the letters detailing the recognition of America to Jefferson.

I love the effects they have for Mickey's Philharmagic show and in Soarin'. They make the attractions more interesting and make you feel like you are actually in the movie. :minnie:

It's funny how many of us enjoy the burning Rome smell. I love that scene - hopefully it'll still be there next time I go.

Another thing I really like is how all the 'non-speaking presidents' in HoP move around, whisper to one another and nod along with whoever's speaking. Very cool detail.

My favorite attention to detail is the ship masts that you see above the POTC at Disneyland. They are over the building tops in New Orleans Square. Very cool :D

I also like the metallic palm trees in Tomorrowland (Nice touch with the future theme), and how they open and close with the sun light

Here's one: How when your walking in MK and the globes on the lamps make Hidden Mickeys when you reach the correct angle!

I have some of the stuff used to make "The Smell" in a sealed jar on one of my shelves. It was a Birthday present from a friend who is a CM. It's got a lable on it saying "DANGER DO NOT OPEN!!". He told me if the bottle broke we'd never be able to sell our house, EVER! I was also told he'd better never see it on sale at Ebay.

I think its really neat that a lot of lights around Disneyland in Frontierland or Adventureland all flicker like they are lite by candles. Because those areas probably in real life would not have electricity.

Ok, this isn't my favorite detail, but rather an odd detail that I really don't understand. At echo lake to the left of the boat if you look down into the water, there is what I assume is a supposed to be a tree stump and a fallen tree under the water. A small portion of it sticks out and the stump just misses being above the water-line (the top of the stump is also covered in pennies which people have thrown in). I never really understood why Disney would deliberately put a (fake) fallen tree at the bottom of a lake. Is it a reference to something?

Here's a picture I found. It's at the very bottom of the frame, the part of the tree that sticks out of the water is in the bottom left corner and the stump is a little to the right of the bottom center (you can see the pennies on it glimmering)

Maybe I'm overthinking this and maybe it's just a simple detail with no further explanation needed. Maybe it's just to give the area more character and even a history, like it's a real place. Maybe this is my favorite detail  .

edit: Another picture I found of the lake drained, here you can clearly see what it is (not one, but TWO fallen trees :o -gasp-)

(I think I may be obsessing over this)

1.) The windows on Main Street. I especially love the "M.T. Lott" window, celebrating Walt's ingenuity when purchasing the land to build WDW. Directly above that, on the third floor, is Frank Wells' window, "Seven Summits Expeditions." An amazing tribute. (Look for these windows on the right side of Main Street as you head toward the castle, on the corner just past Center Street.)

I definitely agree with Kgmadorin on this post. But I love Push the talking trash can. We have to go to the Conservation station every time we're in AK to try to spot the dude with the mic.
