Hmmmmmmm, I was just thinking...if POTC4 is a reboot of that series, and there's also a HM reboot movie in the offing....then maybe they could do another Country Bear Jamboree reboot movie?
Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides
I wouldn't call the new Pirates movie a reboot at all. More like a continuation of Capt. Jack and Barbossa's adventures.mindflipper wrote:Hmmmmmmm, I was just thinking...if POTC4 is a reboot of that series, and there's also a HM reboot movie in the offing....then maybe they could do another Country Bear Jamboree reboot movie?

Usually a reboot is when a franchise has been dead for an extended period of time, usually due to a bomb.

This is certainly true in the Batman, Spiderman, X-Men, and Star Trek films series.Wizzard419 wrote:Usually a reboot is when a franchise has been dead for an extended period of time, usually due to a bomb.
Actually, in articles about POTC4 producers have referred to as a "reboot" of the series. I guess it can also be a reboot if you want to take something in a new direction. POTC2 and POTC3 was more about Swann & Turner than about Sparrow (in fact, I'm sure both of those characters had twice the screen time than Sparrow in both those films). I think the new direction is to center back on Jack Sparrow. Maybe also to have it more self-contained like POTC1 too and not two-part films like POTC2/3.

I'm actually really pumped for this new flick. The last one was god-awful but this one looks dynamite.

Sorry but I disagree totally. I really like how the 3rd one builds excitment throughout the second half. The entire last battle was great and I was very pleased with how it ended. I love the music, too.TikiTikiRoom wrote:I'm actually really pumped for this new flick. The last one was god-awful but this one looks dynamite.

Well, Hans Zimmer is back for this movie. So you are in luck. If the movie sucks (doubtful, IMHO) you at least have the music.

I'm sorry, but the person who just described POTC3 as being "god-awful" was being far too kind - the stench POTC3 wreaked could make anyone hurl...

I'm not a fan of POTC3 so I hope that this one is decent. I think since they're throwing in Blackbeard, that's starting to lure me into wanting to watch.
Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides
I agree that the first half of POTC3 was dreadful, but the final battle in the whirlpool was very good - one of the best battle scenes of all three movies.

Now if only it was explained better what the (bleep) happened to Calypso.momeja wrote:I agree that the first half of POTC3 was dreadful, but the final battle in the whirlpool was very good - one of the best battle scenes of all three movies.
Oh, wow. She turned into a bunch of crabs and created a storm... BLAH!!!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides
The whole script was plagued with poorly conceived plot twists that in the end made no sense at all - that's what I hope for better from POTC4. Get back to the basics...MadEye wrote:Now if only it was explained better what the (bleep) happened to Calypso.momeja wrote:I agree that the first half of POTC3 was dreadful, but the final battle in the whirlpool was very good - one of the best battle scenes of all three movies.

Oh, don't I know it. In the end, which side was Will Turner on? Or Jack for that matter?mindflipper wrote:The whole script was plagued with poorly conceived plot twists that in the end made no sense at all - that's what I hope for better from POTC4. I don't know. You all expect an awful lot from your movies.mindflipper wrote:The whole script was plagued with poorly conceived plot twists that in the end made no sense at all - that's what I hope for better from POTC4. (of course, I'm still trying to figure out how BTMRR ended up in the middle of the lush Bavarian landscape of Tangled... )

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides
A girl at work borrowed number 3 from me last week. I told her that it makes the most sense if you are actually drinking while you watch it. She asked if she should pick up a nice bottle of wine, and I said "It's a pirate movie, get rum!"
