Basic law: ownership is transferred with a gift once the transfer of possession has occurred. There is no ownership stake retained by giver once given. Topic closed.Arvorenn wrote:mindflipper might have learned a lesson here: Never buy something for somebody else that you would never buy for yourself?. Or, more drastically: Never buy something for somebody else because you could be stuck with the ownership. Except mugs. And other cool things
Anyway, back to topic - I haven't come to terms with those Vinylmations yet. I mean, okay, they're (mostly) Mickey-shaped and Mickey is cool, but most of them are quite scary to look at - you expect Mickey and get something that is painted totally different.
Sure, there are some nice ones, but it's hard to get them since they are sold in mystery boxes...
I don't know. Maybe I'll end up buying or even owning some of them soon. If there is a way to get a nice one for sure
To me, most of them look creepy and I don't like the way that some are sold in boxes in which you can't see what you're buying. I don't like when they employ strategies like that to force collectors to buy more than what they want.

I'm with you on the mystery box, Mindflipper. I've always hated that trick.
And sorry about the 9/10s comment. I was just teasing you.

No problem, momeja. We're just all hanging out having fun with each other on the board. And thanks for agreeing about the mystery box trick. I just don't like how they take advantage of those people collecting VM's like that.momeja wrote:I'm with you on the mystery box, Mindflipper. I've always hated that trick.

True... we're just having fun with this discussion. I really like the vm that mindflipper gave me and really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the gift... and I wouldn't give it back to him even if he begged!mindflipper wrote:No problem, momeja. Too bad Jacca is not around, they are going to release a Baloo vm next week in an open window set (so you actually know what you are buying before hand!):

It's from the Disney Afternoon set.

Are they doing Darkwing Duck and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers?NaCler wrote:Too bad Jacca is not around, they are going to release a Baloo vm next week in an open window set (so you actually know what you are buying before hand!):

A roughly Mickey-shaped Darkwing Duck? I don't know...would you be tempted by that, mindflipper?mindflipper wrote: Are they doing Darkwing Duck and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers?

mf - I believe Darkwing Duck has been rumored but I do not know who his counter-part would be. They will definitely have C&D Rescue Rangers as I think those were previewed at last year's trading event in September. Most of the Disney Afternoon characters will be out at some point in time. They are paired together which makes me wonder how they will do Hughie, Douie and Louie from Duck Tales.

And if you like C&D, you might like this series that is about to be released:

It's in the NERDS ROCK Series... There has already been non-VM merchandise created for this line.

I never realized until reading this thread a day or two ago that you didn't know what vm you are getting before you buy it. How do they keep people from peeking? Tape on the box? Plastic wrap? CMs ready to slap your hand if you try?
How does trading vm work? I know they're still small, but it seems like they wouldn't be as transportable as the pins.
And do people still trade the pins now?

Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Indeed I saw some Disney nerds merchandise....and it was already on clearanceNaCler wrote:And if you like C&D, you might like this series that is about to be released:

Some of the VM's have a clear front to the box so you see what you are buying. The mystery VM's boxes are all solid cardboard so they are a surprise ~ although a CM slapping your hand would be more of a surprise!Polynesian Princess wrote:I never realized until reading this thread a day or two ago that you didn't know what vm you are getting before you buy it. NaCler can fill you in on the ins and outs of trading VM's since he and his Mom did a bit of that this past December. I know there were certain stores that had little lucite boxes near the cash registers with 5 or 6 VM's that were up for trading.
Yup, I still saw lots of people with pin lanyards so I assume that is still going fairly strong. I never got into it since the pins are so expensive

I never got into pin trading because I like just buying what I want from the beginning.
