Very nicely done! Why couldn't people recognize what it was?!? That is a very handsome Aladdin too ~ I've not seen very many Aladdin characters that don't look a bit odd with their extra hair
Were you in a race that day? Or do you pick random signs with numbers as accessories?! ;)

Thanks! I think Aladdin, Jasmine, and maybe one or two random people were the only ones to recognize it (and I washed it several times, so I wore it probably 3 days that trip ). I got several odd looks, a lot of "What's that?", and even one lady who said something to me about how it was such a beautiful temple and asked me which religion it was part of. I was like "... Um, it's Agrabah? You know, the place from Aladdin?" I'd expect those reactions if I wore it to a random grocery store, but this was at Disney World!

 Yes, we did the Princess 5K that trip. I really just wanted to experience the behind the scenes portions you went through. As you can tell from my Mickey crocs, I didn't do a lot of running that day. ;)
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Mousekedude Builds a Shadowbox... Episode 9: Detail work is important.

Greetings, Mousecrafting Fans! First, let me say that I appreciate all the participation in this thread that we've seen. Most recently, Polynesian Princess has posted some of her work, and we're grateful for that. One request, though: P.P., could you maybe post larger pictures of your shirt..? It's kinda hard to see. Thanks. :D

Okay, let's get down to it. As mentioned in my last post on the subject, the primer I applied in the last episode is just a first coat, designed to seal the wood and reveal whatever imperfections there might be. In this episode, I've sanded the primer and applied the spackling to the imperfections that showed up, just as promised. Here's the photo documentation of that work:

So now I have to wait for the spackling to cure, and then I can sand the whole thing again and apply another coat of primer.
Sorry this is taking so long, and there's so much time passing between episodes, but rest assured that the project will be completed before too long... Mouseoholic expects it!

If you click on the previous picture, it makes it larger. I did a thumbnail since many forums are very ... particular about larger images. I like that there's big pictures everywhere here! :) Here's the big one:

I clicked on the picture and saw it in it's bigger form before, but the larger picture is nice :D There are guidelines for photos listed here... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=944
but here it is in a nutshell...
Photos:
Photos should be limited to a maximum size 800 x 600 or 600 x 800. If your hosting service does not provide this exact measurement then choose the measurement that is close but smaller (example flickr 500 x 415). This will cut down on bandwidth usage and help those with smaller monitors to prevent left right scrolling.
Most people opt for the max size since we are all photo hounds and love to look at pictures!!

Mousekedude: tell Mouseoholic to be patient. We're already jealous of her and it's not even finished! BTW any advance word you can give us about the lighting?

Polynesian Princess: Thanks for the larger pic! That really is a cool shirt! :D

Amy: "Photo hounds..." I love it! It's true!

Mindflipper: Mouseoholic is really being very patient. She gets "good wife points" for not nagging me.
I'm planning to use L.E.D. strip lighting, although I haven't settled on a particular brand yet. But I'll be sure to post pics when I get to that point.

M-Dude - EXCELLENT job... that is really looking nice. I'm sure the finished product is really going to blow us away as well.

By the way... Mouseoholic called me because she didn't quite know how to ask you... but when you finish with this box can you please make her one shaped like this?

Image

hahaha...

NaCler could have made it worse: he could have suggested making the next one in the shape of DUFFY...

Perhaps NaCler wanted to be polite and let Mouseoholic have a second box made in the shape of the VM before he asked for one in the shape of Duffy for himself?! ;)
