Who all thinks there should be a 4th Pirates movie?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

although I really like all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I think that a 4th might be pushing it. I would like to see Disney come up with a new Great idea to promote the rides.

I believe that there was an announcement that there is going to be a fourth. They failed to mention what it would be about. I know in the 3rd we aren't left hanging because they show Will coming back to Elizabeth with their child. This means that the 4th Pirates can go in any direction they want. They can do a prologue of what happened before the first movie with Jack and Barbossa and Davey Jones. Also, they can have a movie set off into the future, with out Will and Liz, and it could be about Jack's newer adventures...
You never know, they've got a brilliant movie and millions of possibilites.

Bumping this up since the 4th movie is apparently now confirmed to be 'in the works'. :)
Johnny Depp has been unveiled as Disney Studios' main man, after film bosses announced plans for a trio of movies all starring the Hollywood actor.

Disney chairman Dick Cook revealed the news during a press conference at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre on Wednesday, detailing plans for upcoming films that would tie Depp to the studio for the next few years.

Cook confirmed that a third sequel to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was in the works, and that he would star as The Mad Hatter in director Tim Burton's forthcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland.
Here's a link to the original story ---> Link

Seems he's also going to play Tonto. I'm all for more Depp, but that's a little weird, innit? o.O

Stop the craziness. The Pirate's franchise needs to end. What the heck will the story be about?!

^I personally hope they start fresh with a new story (still involving Cap'n Jack of course). New characters and a whole new plot could make for a great film. Is it really possible to match the 1st though?? My gut says leave well enough alone and try something other than pirates. We'll have to wait and see.

well, if we look at the ending of the last film, at the end, Captain Jack had a map to the Fountain of Youth. Also, we see (if only for a moment after the credits) Will and Elizabeth's son. Could have something with him/them in there.

though, those are just spitballs as to what could happen. based on the previous installments

Yeah, I'm thinking the Fountain of Youth will be something to do with it. I mean, if they wanted to suggest Jack had found the fountain, they could progress the story a number of years and have Will and Elizabeth be old(er) and Jack the same age. Barbossa too, since he's 'unnatural', and then have Jack and Hector dealing with Will and Lizzie's son.

I think I remember reading that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were done with the series one way or another, right? So I'm assuming they'll need to be written out somehow.

I have heard that they're not including both Will and Elizabeth in this one. I know Keira Knightley stated that her "Pirate" days are over since she's focusing on other projects so that's one reason why they won't bring the pair back. I would love to see them focus more on Jack and Barbossa and have them incorporate the Fountain of Youth in it. It would make for a great storyline.

I read too that Johnny Depp was going to be in an Alice In Wonderland remake. That is was going to be done in 3D animation like Beowulf. Not sure I like that idea either, though he would make a great Mad Hatter! Who knows, you know how the rumor mill goes :)

It's confirmed. Depp will reprise Captain Jack in Pirates 4, play the Mad Hatter in Burton's Alice, as well as Tonto in "The Lone Ranger"... read article below:

The first movie was really special! The last two were disappointing because of the story line ! Maybe the 4th would open and close in the time allowed and you would be able to leave the movies with a sense of fulfillment and joy! The cast needs to embrace their rolls like the first movie and not just go through the motions like the last two. Make it more real with a great performance, instead of filling the script with dark magic, sea monsters, the Flying Dutchman, men transformed into creatures of the deep, mythical stuff thats so far fetched that the human brain knows isn't reality! Make it a film were you can believe that you and the ones around you are on the seven seas with Jack and Will, looking for treasure, and hoping the romance with Will and Elizabeth will take you away!

I would love to see a 4th Pirates movie. However, like most sequels, you really need the main characters. If we can't have Jack, Will, and Elizabeth...why bother?

And didn't I hear that Johnny Depp was paid something like $50 million up front to do Pirates 4? Isn't that a bit outrageous?? I mean, I do like Pirates and all, but that's just plain crazy!
