Hmm as for the Pixar vs Dreamworks debate, Pixar is definitely the better but Dreamworks has had their winners. Lets take a look

Antz vs Bug's Life

Winner: Bug's Life- While I dont think Antz is a ripoff of Bug's Life or vice versa in repeat showings Bug's Life is just more fun for me and Antz while a great film can be a little depressing at times, maybe Christopher Walken as the star would have changed it all but alas.

Although on the other side of the coin I thought the original Shrek was better than Monsters Inc since Shrek was an homage to fairy tales and Monsters Inc had some 2nd act problems when Mike and Sully are chasing Boo around almost endlessly. The problem with Dreamworks right now is that it seems they are just trying to stuff their films with pop culture reference after pop culture reference and it just drags down the films. Also did anyone else just cringe at that scene in Shrek 2 where Pinocchio is wearing a thong I mean yuck! Thats it for now

The Incredibles is my favorite so far. Finding Nemo coming in a close second, but the two films appeal to me for different reasons.

Toy Story 2 was really good, but my son obsessed over it for a few months, and it really lost its charm after the 302nd viewing or so.

Though I do keep a warm spot in my heart for the Listerine Bottle swinging through the jungle, that was on TV in the 80s. I was excited about Toy Story, because I was already a fan of Pixar.

By far it is Monsters Inc. But as for what I have heard about The Incredibles so far that may change I have yet to see it.

I like Beauty and the Beast. The Ballroom scene was very realistic. Guess is was some of the first computer animiation stuff for Disney. Besides, I was at Disney during Thanksgiving when I saw it which made it special.

you know, it seems to me that if Disney does their own Toy Story, it will probably be a straight-to-video flop. I just don't think that Disney has the magic touch that Pixar gives.

Don't get me wrong, though... Disney has come out with some good stuff. But, for most of the sequels of popular movies, they go straight to video, and critics (both professional and the average person) don't like the story (look at the Aladdin movies, or Mulan, or things like Air Bud... ).

TS2

Toy Story 2 was suppose to be direct to video, but then John Lasseter got involved and it turned out so good they bumped it up. Hopefully they'll pull him in a little for TS3. 8)

I think that getting Lasseter to come in for some creative inspiration is a bit of wishful thinking. Especially since Lasseter doesn't want to lose control of his characters and he probably won't leave a company he basically helped put together.

Of course, wishful thinking helped to build what we all love today... :D

I personally think the idea of a pixar-less TS 3 is just insane. Just to let you know if Disney does this they will have to rebuild all the characters and scenes and such themselves as well as try and get back all the character voices which could be a problem if the actors become pixar loyalists. Also dont forget Pixar is the reason the toy story films are so good, and Disney is in a transition period. What makes things worse is that I think the Florida Animation wing could have made a great TS 3 film but alas Disney has a new policy "Make us 3 profitable animated films and we close you down"

I think it's simpler than that. I feel Disney can't think of anything good so they'll ride the back of a hot seller. And it won't be as good because they won't care about it being good. They know people will buy it just because it has the Toy Story label.

Basically, it's another case of quality versus quantity. Just like what is.was happening with the parks (Superstar Limo anyone?)... same thing with animation. Hopefully, enough people will bring it to the attention of Eisner's replacement, and something can be done...

Both Toy Stories 1 and 2 are equally excellent and I would say they tie for my favorite.

Dreamworks

I have to agree with the comments that the Shrek films are bogged down with the pop cultural references. I don't think they are clever or cute, and Shrek 2 was just pandering the whole time. Lame!
