Re: Creative Disney Crafting
Greetings, Mousecrafting fans! It's been a while since this thread was updated with anything craft-related, and I'm sorry about that. There has obviously been quite a bit of other things keeping us all busy, such as trip reports and what-not. But my shadowbox project has been sitting here on the sidelines waiting for progress to be made, and today I managed to work on it a little bit. So let's get to it.
As anyone who has ever built furniture or cabinets can confirm, plywood can be a total pain in the patookus to work with. This is especially true when it's home-made plywood, as documented in previous entries on this thread. That being the case, my shadowbox needs quite a bit of prep work to be done before it will be ready to paint. The home-made plywood edges and surfaces need some sanding and wood filler to be done. So that's what I did today. Here's some pics of the process:

My apologies for the blurry shots. Apparently I'm having some issues with my workshop camera. It is getting pretty old, after all, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Maybe next time I'll use the good camera. But anyway, I hope this entry is acceptable as a sign of progress on my project. My main focus these days has been on doing our trip report, so I haven't had the time to spend on this project that I would like to have. Anyway, stay tuned.... hopefully before too long I'll have another episode of the Shadowbox project to post.

It is looking nice
You get an A+ on using your safety goggles while sanding. Your sander looks like a little race car in that photo!

Thank you, everyone. I just wish I had more time to work on it. I'd really like to finish it, and poor Mouseoholic is waiting ever so patiently...

This is true, and it looks like it will be quite the showpiece when it is done. But I think I might have to give this one to Mouseoholic, if you look back, Mousekedude started this project back in Augustmindflipper wrote:Tell her "good things come to those who wait". Hey, he does have a job, they have cats, went on a long trip to WDW, then add in the holidays - the man's been busy! Both of them have. He's working on it...be patient...you're not going to get impatient like Len90 craving for a trip report, are you, Amy?

I'll give you everything except the cats as an excuse. They are pretty self sufficient!!mindflipper wrote:Hey, he does have a job, they have cats, went on a long trip to WDW, then add in the holidays - the man's been busy! Both of them have. No, no, no - cats are a major time consumer. You have to feed them, clean liter trays, and spend great deal of time petting, rubbing and scratching them so they can purr on endlessly. My cat can be very demanding in the last department. First thing when I get home from work she meets me at the door, and then takes me to my room where she wants to rubbed, scratched and brush for at least 20 minutes. Like you, patience... is... not... her... strong... suit.... but... purr... purr...ahhhhhhhhhhh. Happy cat.

Re: Creative Disney Crafting
Well then, obviously I have been neglecting my friends' cats when they go on vacation and I watch them. I pour some food out every few days, clean the litter boxes (gag, gag), and hope that the cat that I haven't seen for the whole time my friends have been gone is still alivemindflipper wrote:No, no, no - cats are a major time consumer. I gave up playing with the other one because he gets a little too rough with his claws

You on the other hand sound like you are a good kitty father making sure his kitties are happy
