Mousekedude builds a shadowbox.... Episode 3

Hi, y'all! Since I was feeling a little better today, I did some additional work on the project. The bad news is that I forgot to charge up the camera battery, so there's no pictures.

Anyway, I didn't get a whole lot done today, so let me just describe it: after a typical breakfast at my favorite hangout (sorry no pictures, Amy...), I went to the MZTS and cruised the aisles looking for materials that would come in handy for my project. In particular, I was hoping to find thin sheets of veneer that I could cut and bend to form the sides of the shadowbox. Well, I didn't find diddly-squat, which then reminded me that last time I wanted some good wood veneer for a project, I had to get it at a specialty place. Fortunately I had a little bit left over from that last project, so I went home and cut some strips of it and set them aside for the laminating of the side pieces. I also cut out the main body of the shadowbox (a 3/4' thick sheet of MDF) so that it would be ready to fasten the sides to once I form them up.
That pretty-much sums it up for today. I'm still feeling a little weak from being sick, so I didn't want to push it. Hopefully next time I'll remember to charge up the camera battery too.

Hi Mousekedude... I am following intently. However, what is laminating? The only laminating I know is one is what I do at my office with paper. And I still can't figure out how you are going to bend the wood... one of the grand mysteries of life I suppose. What is the plan for the inside, will it be cork, or some other material? Anyways, enough of the 20 questions, hope you are feeling better, remember it's not healthy to be sick!
