Favorite Disney Live-Action Movies

Oh yes...TRON! I have to admit, I liked it better the older I got...As a kid, it was more of a "boys" movie to me.

It probably helped me that my brother and I are only a year apart. We generally watched together all the Disney movies we could get our hands on at the rental place. He loved The Black Hole as well as TRON; I was definitely more partial to TRON. Even now Maximilian from TBH gives me the willies.

Me too...I would own TBH for collectors sake (I don't know if it's available on DVD or not), but I wouldn't be watching it much. TRON is much better! Being an only child, I didn't have the luxury of watching the movies with anyone other than my parents. This made it difficult when I wanted to rent "The Cat from Outer Space" for the umpteenth time and my parents wanted to get something else. But renting movies was how I grew to love so many classics that aren't seen as much anymore...too bad Disney hasn't released more than just the "popular" ones...

Return to Oz, Flight of the Navigator, Escape to Witch Mountain/Return from Witch Mountain, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, The Mighty Ducks trilogy (my all-time favorite), The Santa Clause, Hocus Pocus, Heavyweights, Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, 101 Dalmatians, George of the Jungle, Inspector Gadget, The Princess Diaries 1-2, Holes, Pirates of the Caribbean (though I'm more into the first two), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.... and that's it.

Basically, what you said. Also gotta add The Haunted Mansion to mine, I love that one (even though everyone else seems to hate it)!

Newsies, Swiss Family Robinson, Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, Parent Trap (Lindsay Lohan version), there was one back in the day where a business person runs a family ski lodge...cant remember the name...Older Disney live-action movies are the best..corny..but great!

I'm one of the biggest Haunted Mansion fans around - but I still think the movie really sucked! If they could do that well with POTC by making the Black Pearl, why could they have not done the same with the Haunted Mansion? It can sit there on the shelf with Mission to Mars and Country Bears as "film adaptions of theme-park rides that sucked."

Ah! A Wil Wheaton fan, huh? Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? I love the episodes with the "evil" Wil Wheaton!!!

Though I love every episode of that show!

I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but I loved Not Quite Human...not so much the sequels though.

and one I'm sure very few have heard about...The North Avenue Irregulars. This movie is so corny but I still crack up every time I see it...I'm giggling even now as I think about some of the scenes

Here's a quick synopsis from Amazon.com:
Typical of Disney's 1970s output, this squeaky-clean comic adventure about a group of church volunteers and soccer moms who take on local gangsters is packed with slapstick humor, sight gags, and nonlethal car crashes. Curiously enough, it's based on the true story of Reverend Albert Fay Hill, who wrote a book about his efforts to stop mob-run gambling in his city. Edward Herrmann plays the fictionalized Presbyterian minister Mike Hill, a soft-spoken widower with two kids who ruffles the feathers of the dedicated church secretary (Susan Clark) when he organizes a group of women to help the Treasury Department catch the bookies in the act. The mobsters are more Damon Runyon than John Gotti: no one gets hurt and everything ends in a demolition derby free-for-all as the suburban-lady volunteers play bumper cars with the mobsters. There's a potentially fascinating story in there that Disney keeps a G-rated cap on (though seeing Karen Valentine swingin' her booty under the cover of pounds of makeup and a little halter top is a surprise in a family film), but it's a harmless little comedy enlivened by plucky performances by Barbara Harris and Cloris Leachman and a fun turn by Ruth Buzzie as a church elder with a CB-radio handle.


Like I said, this movie is corny as all get out but it always makes me laugh, even just thinking about it.
