Thanks for the review mindflipper, it helped reinforce some of the things I felt about it, but also made me want to see it a little bit more... just as a good review should!
When I saw the hearse chase sequence in the trailer, it looked a little too self-serving, as if it had just been thrown in for video game/3-D appeal. However, I had somehow missed that Cary Elwes was in it and that bumps it up for me.

You may not recognize Cary Elwes - who knew he could be such a vocal chameleon? Stay for the ending credits and you will be shocked how many different characters he voiced. Same with Bob Hoskins - although you can definitely tell its his voice for Fezziwig.
As with most Robert Zemeckis films, the soundtrack score is composed by Alan Silvestri. Probably most famous for theme for the Back to the Future, Silvestri did an excellent job with the Polar Express. With the Christmas Carol, Silvestri mixes in Christmas Carols into the score from action sequences to the emotional scenes.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from going to see it, I'm just saying its not the best or the worst version of the Christmas Carol I have seen.
