Just heard a good one on SNL tonight. In a skit they referenced EPCOT and the picture was taken in front of the "World of energy". To me it seemed like a cross between World of Energy and Universe of Motion.

Someone told me there's Disney references in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. I'm not so sure myself

1. In Back to the Future II there is a Roger Rabbit doll in the window of the antique store.WVParkfan wrote:One of my first memories of that was "Back to the Future" in 1985. The Michael J. Fox character had a Diet Pepsi can he was drinking from, and it was the first time I could ever remember seeing a real Brand Name on a product in a movie.
2. In The Return of Jafar, Genie makes a few Disney references, he says "it's a small world after all," appearing a Jiminy Crickey he says "let your conscience be your guide," and finally he says "bibbidy bobbidy boo."
3. Zazu sings "It's a small world after all..." to Scar.
4. There are a bazillion references in "The Simpsons," "Futurama," and "South Park."

I love how iconic Disney is. It's pretty much invaded every form of entertainment - whether or not the entertainment is Disney-owned. I worked at a daycare and when I wore my Mickey stormtrooper shirt the babies (and I mean babies...like 6 - 9 months) TOTALLY recognized Mickey Mouse...and they can't even talk!

right about the time that Disney bought ABC, ALL the primetime Friday shows (TGIF!) went down to WDW. I remember the Sabrina - The Teenage Witch episode where they went to AK when it first opened. and the Step-By-Step episode. And of course the 2 part Full House cliff-hanger where Michelle runs away while she's "Princess" for the day...jiminycricket wrote:the show "Boy meets World" had a great episode where Cory and Shawn went to Disney World. The show featured every ride and every park. It had behind the seen shots, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Its a 30 minute commercial.
the movie Bebe's Kids has them going to a theme park named Fun World, where the kids are so bad, they get tried by a court of animatronic figures, presided oover by Abreaham Lincoln
also, if you're willing to stretch your imagination a bit, you can find a reference almost ANYWHERE. simple dialog can trigger a "recognition"...

And of course, who can forget the Family Guy episode where Peter brings Stewie to WDW.

Are we there yet? When can we go back?
I don't know what's worse, the anticipation of going or the withdrawals after getting home.

This episode comes up in our house whenever Eisner is mentioned.rknrlrcstr wrote:And of course, who can forget the Family Guy episode where Peter brings Stewie to WDW.

I think a point missed here is that the subliminal advertising really started with Eisner. I know I've been one of the biggest anti-Eisner voices at Sub, but a lot of the negatives opinions we have about Disney can be traced back to Eisner. If anybody needs examples at this point, ask and I can show you multiple points in a heartbeat. I feel this is just another way Eisner lives on.

In the first Toy Story, there is a clock on the wall of Andy's room that has Mickey hands. Thought that was interesting with all the friction there was between Disney and Pixar back then.
I wasn't 100% positive that the Mickey clock was in the 1st Toy Story so I wanted to check to be sure - it was.
There are also a ton of others from Toy Story (link below) some confirmed, some a stretch. Either way, I will definitely try to find these the next time we watch the movie. Subliminal, or Eisner-like, whatever - it gives it a little more something when you have to watch it over 100 times (sarcasm-people with children will know what I mean).

the problems between Pixar and Disney did not really start until Toy Story 2. Disney and Pixar we happy with each other through A Bug's Life. but, once ITTBAB opened without Pixar involvement, and when Disney wanted a sub-par TS2

Hmm, ok. That's what I was lead to believe that is was during the first Toy Story. In the documentary "The Pixar Story" it definitely leads you to believe it was a rough going for the first movie. Fundamental diffferences about the perception of the characters and how their personalities were going to be.
Haha I remember that!!boilerbabe wrote:Is anyone a "Home Improvement" fan?! I love watching the reruns of that show, and in the Halloween episode, they threw a Disney reference in there, the trick or treaters were all dressed as Disney characters! Buzz Lightyear and Lion King. I got a kick out of it!!!Very subtle, but fun!

I like to find the hidden Mickeys in Disney films. There's a lot of them there, too. If you watch really really closely.
