Disney DVD
I just got The Fantasia Box set with Fantasia, Fantasi 2000, and the Fantasia Anthology Supplement, it's awesome, I know it has been out a while, but my old roommate had them and I moved out recently, so I wanted them for myself. I recommend them to everyone.

Disney unveils themed portable DVD players
"A Very Merry Un-Birthday To You!"
You do need to do this. I am sure you know your tapes won't last forever, and before long, you won't even be able to buy a VCR. I hope you have started collecting DVD's, expecially the Disney ones that go into the vault and will be gone for 10 years. DVD players are soooo cheap now, no reason not to.bostoncg wrote:I really have to get up with the times and get rid of my VHS and get a DVD. I miss out on all the extra bonus stuff. Loved the movie even if I had to watch it on VHS!

Yeah - but the cheap ones break fast, I've known plenty of people at college that get the cheap ones only to have them break right as the return period expires. And I've found that VHS is still more resiliant than DVD - even minor dust can affect DVD's play but VHS is pretty oblivious to that. Still, with everything now coming out on DVD only [or ltd VHS] it will be hard to be DVD player-free soon...

Since I know so little about them, can anyone suggest which one to buy...brand name, etc.? I get confused when I go looking. I would actually like one that is ultimately built into the TV as opposed to having one to hook up. Thank you in advance for your suggestions

We have a Sony, for some reason the ones built in Japan are better built than the ones made here. If you can find one from a Japanese or Asian company go for it.bostoncg wrote:Since I know so little about them, can anyone suggest which one to buy...brand name, etc.? If you also can get one with the surround sound, it's a bit expensive but it is worth it, (The ship battle in POTC was really nice with surround sound)
I've gone full circle on my avatars.

That would freak out the neighbors who live downstairs, so I better pass on surround sound until I buy a place of my ownAlexLoup wrote: If you also can get one with the surround sound, it's a bit expensive but it is worth it, (The ship battle in POTC was really nice with surround sound)

My hubby bought one of those really big subwoofer things. When he plays things like the POTC battle, it rattles everything. When he first got it, I came home from work one day and the light fixtures on the outside of the house were rattling, and we don't have a really small house. I can also feel the floor vibrate when I am upstairs and he has something playing rather loudly. I know guys think that kind of stuff is cool.AlexLoup wrote:We have a Sony, for some reason the ones built in Japan are better built than the ones made here. Disney DVDs
I recommend the box set of Fantasia if you can find it. It comes with Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and some nice bonus materials on the third disc.
