So, it happened. But only for about a second as many of you predicted. I was walking into Epcot and they were still playing the Christmas loop (even though it was two weeks or so after Christmas) and I was taken back to my living room. But only for that second. Now I am tempted to request the Christmas loop to take me back to Epcot!

It's January! Give up the ghost on Christmas! Are you one of those people who don't take down the outside Christmas lights until Easter??

No. That was my point. I was surprised that they were still playing Christmas music in the MK, Epcot and DHS up until I left on the 13th!

I was looking forward to hearing the regular background music. They finally stopped the Xmas music at Epcot on the 12th. Though the trees were still up.

Just trying to stop you from requesting that Christmas loop, dude.

It's time to move on, even if EPCOT has not.

No worries there. I am a believer in having the Christmas put away by 12/27!

You're gonna put your Christmas stuff away? It's not even Memorial day yet!

Hahaha...interesting thought, but I have to say....No way. When I'm at Disney there is no thought of home...other than the kittens.

No pets in our house :D I personally know that once we enter the limo for the trip to the airport, there is no more thoughts of home or anything that can remind me of home until the limo turns onto our street 8 days later. That is when the memories of excitedly listening to subsonic from the months leading up to the vacation start to kick in.

I personally have given thought ahead of time to the possibility of that happen and tend to not really listen much in the two weeks leading up the vacation.

I found myself humming along with the Innoventions background music the last time I was there. I didn't even realize I was doing it at first. I guess there are just certain places that do that to me: Adventureland tikis (so annoying!), Flame Tree BBQ, Innoventions, Splash Mtn, Space Mtn.

I'm sure there are more.

I like turning it into a game - to see if I recognize the music I've heard on subsonic or that I've got in my collection. If I hear something I like, and if it's new to me, then it makes me want to find that track.

When I'm there, if I hear something that sounds familiar to me I try to stop and take in my surroundings so that when I get home and hear it again, I can be taken back to the area I heard the music in. I remember my last day in Epcot I heard the innoventions theme (probably my favorite music on here) and I stopped and sat down and tried to just look around. I did this in couple of different spots. I was pretty sure there were some people there who thought I was in distress since I would walk a little ways and then sit on a bench, walk some more and sit on a bench...... :)

Me too! When we were walking along Paradise Pier in October, I noticed myself finding the music through all the other noise. I was humming and dancing along and my DH thought I was crazy. I was so excited to hear some of the songs I never paid much attention to in the past (not to mention knowing some of the nuances in the music that can't be heard among the other noise seems to be especially satisfying :D )

This is a really interesting thread! I hadn't really thought about it like that before. I think the only effect it has on me once I'm there is that I'm more aware of the music playing in the background. If I hear something familiar, I'm much more likely to recognize that it's there, whereas if I wasn't familiar, I might have not consciously noticed the music at all. It makes me want to pay attention to the music even more. I don't think that's a bad thing. :D
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

No reverse effect for me. In fact, I pay more attention to the music than I used to, especially the area music.

I keep thinking about this. It's just so weird to think you could be walking around EPCOT and think, wow I feel like I'm in my living room or this is the background music from when I saw the Superbowl! Just to strange!

I can just imagine people saying, I was folding when I heard this, or I was doing the dishes, or better yet I was mowing with the speakers outside when last I heard this one!ImageImageImage
