Disney Stores will be Disney owned again!

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

The cast member didn't go into details about the benifits. I Googled it and found this:
"Disney Store CMs used to get in to the Parks free. In addition, for family members, we got 4 one day hoppers per hear - these were good for 24 months so we could save them for a couple of years of exchange them with other CMs for future dates. And, we could get half off on resorts and 35% off on food and purchases."

This would be a very good change!! Over the last several years, the atmosphere within Disney Stores was becoming increasingly un-Disney. Our local stores became basically toy stores / clothing stores for kids. Obviously the majority of their merchandise will be geared toward younger ages, but I used to be able to kill plenty of time in there looking at items that were adult friendly such as clothes, books, watches, items for office, etc.

Close this deal quickly!!!

Wow, I am looking for a new job right now and this would be perfect! I have a Disney Store 5 minutes away from me. The quality of snowglobes in the new stores has been horrible.

Just because Disney is taking the stores back over doesn't necessarily mean the quality will improve. I have noticed over the years that many of the Disney products have become cheaply made. Back in 2003 I bought a Mickey Pumpkin, the ones that the kids use for getting candy around the parks, it was made out of a hard rubber and was 1/4" thick (6.35mm for our Canadian and European users). In 2005 I noticed that they changed from Rubber to Plastic, getting cheaper. Then in 2006 they went from the 1/4" thickness to 1/8" thick (3.175mm), I hate to thick what they will be next time I go in October.

Like everyone else said, they really need to have a wider selection in there. A wider age range in mind would definitely boost sales. Even the kids range that they target now is very lacking, the stores used to be packed with all kinds of cool things.

I would be happy if they would just put one closer to our home. There was one 2 hours away that they just closed. So now, I haven't a clue on where I would go for a Disney Store.

I have to say I agree with the vast majority of posts thus far - it will be a welcome change. The CP is not doing the store, nor the Disney name, justice at the moment.

I would like to see park merchandise more than almost anything else, even if it is the "clearance" from the previous year.

Thank goodness! The merchandise had become so crappy.

Of course, where I live, they closed the Disney Store. The nearest one is 2.5 hours away.

I am very happy about this. I hope this also means that they are going to pull everything back to the US and no longer have their Customer Service in India.

I hope they can return the stores to some of their former glory. It used to be so much fun going to the Disney Store. They had nice stuff -- not the same things you could find at Wal-Mart. I collect Disney watches and they would have some really nice ones, not the cheapo kind they've had more recently. Here's hoping!!

I agree so with you. I shopped for years thinking I was buying from Disney. Now I am glad I will be.

I stopped buying disney stuff at the disneystore online just because of the bad customer service. I sent a b-day gift to my neice, they messed up the address, and told me it was my problem if it was delivered incorrectly. I was informed that if it was delivered, it was my loss (would have to buy another) and they couldn't do anything if it was not returned to them. On top of that, you could barely understand what they were saying! I would love to have disney not outsoursed and have cast members that are actually friendly the way castmembers should be. - blue
