Classic Disney Television

I remember watching with my kids -- they loved Tailspin, Darkwing Duck and DuckTales (Duck Tales , woo ooh). There was also an animated Mighty Ducks one that they really liked. I enjoyed watching the Avonlea series that they did and we loved watching JD and Bree (I think that was her name) in the series that was all about the parks and behind the scenes ... can't remember the name of it right now. I know I have the 25th Anniversary of WDW episode on a VHS tape somewhere in my house. There was also a time when they had more Disney Channel Original Movies that were a lot of fun to watch. And why do they think that we all want to see Halloweentown so much?? Vault Disney was terrific, too!

Sigh, I miss DuckTales and the Mighty Ducks show. I miss my childhood.

Being a little older, I wouldn't really classify Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, or any of the 1990's Disney Channel shows to be "classic" Disney TV shows.

When I think of "classic" Disney TV, I think of Davy Crockett, The original Mickey Mouse Club (with Annette), Zorro, and of course The Wonderful World of Disney (in color!) on Sunday nights.

Would I want a channel to re-live all of those old shows? Sure! Would it make enough money to survive? Absolutely not.

I dunno about that. Boomerang continues to exist despite consisting only of largely terrible cartoons that have great sentimental and nostalgic value.

Many of the "classic" Disney shows are actually really good and hold up well, not to mention the fact that they have the Disney brand name. (And it would be great if people learned that Disney didn't always mean "safe, bland, and uninspired".)

Probably wouldn't be a massive moneymaker, but I doubt it could lose money. The cost of programming would be $0.

There's already Disney Channel and Toon Disney, I don't understand why Disney just doesn't create a "Vault Disney Channel".

I agree. I'm currently animating on a Toon Disney show "Yin Yang Yo!" which airs on their Jetix lineup. Although it has Disney's name, it just isn't a true classic Disney television series like they used to have. Nothing beats the classic characters. I am glad to see that you can get the complete series of Duck Tales, Tail Spin, Rescue Rangers, etc. on DVD.

On the quick subject of cartoons .......I know it must be my age.....I don't get alot of today's cartoons, I rarely laugh at any of them. I don't like Pokemon type cartoons. I grew up with, (and you can google these .. ha ha ha) Quick Draw McGraw, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Johnny Quest (though not really a cartoon per say), just to mention a few, those all made me laugh. I liked Hanna-Barbera's productions back then, and I also enjoyed Disney's Ducktales, Rescue Rangers (my son grew up on those) now to me those are cartoons! I guess I am a fuddy duddy

i voted yes, but i was thinking more of the really old cartoons like the black &white mickey mouse cartoons, silly symphonies, pluto and donald cartoons, the shows that are out on dvd as " disney treasures"

A Vault Disney Channel would ruin my life in a good way. The intro was awesome. I'd watch Zorro (please release on DVD!) and then fall asleep to Walt Disney's voice on the Disneyland specials, which started around 1:30 I believe, and then get up for school at 6:00am.
They could do a combo channel with the classic "Disney Afternoon" shows (Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Gummi Bears, etc.) on during the day time for kids and then switch to Classic Disney during the afternoon / primtime. I'm sure people would still love to sit down and watch Walt Disney Presents after dinner time. My family did it in the 80s.

EDIT: Weekday Lineup, here we go:
5a-9am - Classic Disney cartoons: Silly Symphonies, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, etc.
9a-12p - Classic Disney morning shows: Adventures in Wonderland, Stanley (don't think it's on anymore, but it's Stanley!), Good Morning Mickey, Mickey Mouse Club, etc.
12p-4p - The Disney Afternoon and other 80s-90s cartoons - Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, etc.
4p-5p - Tween centered live action - Kids Incorporated, New Mickey Mouse club, Jett Jackson, Even Stevens, etc.
5p-6:30p - Classic Disney Primetime - Zorro, Davey Crockett, True Life Adventures, etc.
6:30p-8:00p - Walt Disney Presents / Disneyland (the show) - Do a revolving decade for each day. IE - Monday 40s and 50s, Tuesday 60s, Wednesday 70s, Thursday 80s, Friday 90s. You could get a good mixture of shows and tune in on your favorite day for your favorite decade.
8:00p - 11:00p - Classic Disney shows - Ollie and ____ (forgot the name, but the kids who worked on a ranch and learned important life lessons), Mickey Mouse club, Disney specials, basically anything in the Disney Treasures that don't fit elsewhere.
11:00p-5:00a - Re-run the Classic Disney shows block.

Let me know what you think and make changes, we'll start our own Subsonic Disney TV once we have it set up

That would be awesome! The only thing I would argue against is the "Re-run the Classic Disney shows block." This is one of my biggest complaints with cable these days. A lot of the TV I watch is later at night (10pm-1am central). If I happen to watch prime time TV, it is very annoying to have the same episodes come right back on a couple hours later.

I miss Vault Disney.

it was actually only about 10 minutes, it comes from thinking about this multiple times in the past 5 years . I agree about the re-run of the same shows, I just ran out of things to suggest. Maybe they could do a "block party" format where from 12a-5pm they ran 5 or so consecutive episodes of a classic Disney show in the order they originally aired. Or maybe do a "classic block" where they ran the actual programming from any particular day and year. So on Monday they showed the lineup from 4pm-9pm on June 23rd, 1986. On Tuesday they showed the lineup from 5pm-10pm on December 2nd, 1996 or something like that.

I would LOVE this! When my husband and I check into the resort, we always look for the channel that shows the old Disney cartoons! Reopen the Disney vault!!!

OMG I LOVE THIS! The only thing missing is House of Mouse, The little Mermaid, Hercules, Tarzan, and Timon and Pumbaa, I used to watch those all the time and I thought it was pretty good.

If only....
