Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

These prices are much better than hear, I would be a first time buyer so I can get so good incentives. So lets see buy a house for 300,000 here or a house for 130,000 there and can weekend in WDW, I think we all know where I'm headed.

Lakeland is pretty nice (where I grew up

). I do like the north side of town better though, area of Gibsonia and Providence, it's also closer to I-4. It's not a HUGE city or anything, but it's actually fairly large. There are many new housing developments being built everywhere on the north side. Also only 40 minutes away from WDW!

...aaaahhhhh, then I can hit YOU up for leads!
Baffled, thanks for the feedback on Lakeland and surrounding areas. I'd never heard of Gibsonia, that looks interesting.

I am avoiding the Orlando and Kississimee area. Overpriced and crowded. Looking like 30 SW of Orlando.

Hey, Rich. You might try the other direction. I live thirty minutes (drive) north of Disney, and the prices my way are still really good. It's also growing in all the right ways. You get centrally located between Disney and Daytona Beach, and you can snag the expressway through to Disney to avoid some of the Downtown Orlando traffic. You'll want to act fast, though, because prices are rising by the day. Our house has almost doubled in price since we bought it five years ago.

And Celebration freaks me out. When you have to HIRE people to make an area look home-y, you're stepping into Stepford territory.

The only drawbacks to living in Florida are:
no change of seasons
bugs, lots of bugs
flat land all the time

It still has it's pretty wooded areas, though. Mostly, I just hate the lack of seasons and the utter lack of culture in Central Florida. There's not really a lot of non-touristy things to do, in other words. It really makes me miss NYC.

I guess since I love being a tourist and am not very "cultural" I would fit right in.
