ORLANDO, Fla. — A British woman is suing Walt Disney World, claiming a ride caused her to suffer a disabling heart attack and stroke in 2005.

How few people read any of the warnings on Disney properties. I want to read how they prove it wasn't a pre-existing condition. Lets face it Disney is a favorite target for law suits. I'm not saying there aren't any legit suits. I'm just saying that if anything happens while at Disney there's going to be a law suit.

I also can't believe they only want $15,000. I also saw this was from Fox news, I'll wait until a REAL new organization reports about it. This is owned by Rupert Murdoch. That's the guy who said on the record, "he didn't care about the truth".

Just wondering. Where was this said on the record?

Why can't people be smrt and read the dang signs before getting on a ride?!?!??!?!!? Every thrill ride has a sign about heart problems, back problems and so on! I love the part when they said "They say Disney failed to adequately warn of the risks..."! LOOK AT THE SIGNS!

This is so rediculous. The sad thing is that Disney will probably settle this out of court and the people suing will probably get a settlement anyway...

Obviously people can't read signs before getting on a ride!!! Unreal! When will people take responsibility for themselves?!

It's not like you can't miss the warning signs to begin with. There's plenty of them to be noticed before you even get on the ride.

There's what, about 200 warning sings alone on the ToT?
11/12 - All Star Sports (1 night), free upgrade to AKL Jambo House (4 nights)
2/12, 10/11, 4/11, 4/09, 4/08, 4/07 - Pop Century
4/06, 4/05 - All Star Sports
00 - Offsite
11/99 - Fort Wilderness
Before 99 - Lost count along the way

Lets face it, it is Disney and if someone has a pace maker and a bad back. They are still going to blame Disney. Disney equals big bucks and they do like settling out of court to cut the publicity.

I do feel bad for her if it was a previously undiagnosed condition. Even if she read the signs in that case, she wouldn't have known not to ride. She seems pretty young to have reason to suspect she'd have a heart attack on the thing (I think it said she was 16 at the time?). If they knew she had a condition though, then yes, it's their own fault.

I find the "They are seeking at least $15,000" and the fact they're alleging that the 'safety restraints' are inadequate kind of baffling, though.

In 2005 ToT had the new lap strap restraints. I've been on ToT lots of times and I have had multiple back surgeries. I can ride it because of this restraint system (I rode it before anyway). In doing so I knew or know any injuries are on me and not Disney's fault. I also don't understand the inadequate safety restraint complaint. It could just be a lawyer fishing for something. What am I saying lawyers never do these things!

Like DisBeamer said "If they knew she had a condition. then it's her own fault".

Disney is always going to attract the lawsuits, it's sad but true.

However I would assume that the warning signs as disclaimers would keep things like this from happening. It isn't Disney's fault that she was unaware of her condition just like it isn't her fault. I don't think she should get a dime from Disney either way, they make sure to post their warnings and many of them as a previous poster said.

I agree there though she shouldn't sue Disney for it. It's not like they're meant to cause accidents or health issues.
