Who all thinks there should be a 4th Pirates movie?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

I would want to see Zac Efron in a Pirates movie only if he is killed violently in the movie's first scene. Actually, that goes for any movie in which Zac Efron appears. Come to think of it, the military should use a montage of Zac Efron's performances in the High School Musicals to interrogate Al Quaeda suspects. No, that would be too cruel.

As to whether there should be a 4th Pirates movie, consider this list of "fourth movies":

Superman IV
Batman and Robin
Star Wars Episode I
Star Trek: Nemesis (it was the 4th Next Generation movie)

In fact, the only time I can think of the fourth movie in a series being any good was Star Trek IV in 1986. Usually, a film series is all tapped out by the second movie, unless there's a complete change of creative personnel in front of an behind the camera, and sometimes not even then.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. there have been several several series that have gone to 4 or more that have held their own at the box office, other than the ones you've mentioned:

Herbie Goes Bananas
Saw IV
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Live Free or Die Hard

granted, you would be correct in saying that things start to get a little stale after the third installment or so, but sometimes a fourth (or fifth) installment is just what the series needs to get it going again (kinda like a kick in the pants). I'm not going to say that Pirates would bebefit from having a fourth film made, but as far as Disney is concerned (in this economy and since Eisner was in office), it makes good financial sense to "exploit" a popular series if the demand for it is still very high...

HAHA wow. A little annoyed with Zac Efron I see. A 4th pirates is a horrible horrible idea. Although it will bring the studio profit, I just think its a bad idea. And if the reports I've been reading where Rusell Brand stars as Jack Sparrow's brother I may not even rent the new film.

^ You mean Jack Sparrow wouldn't even be in it, and they'd have some Z-list actor as his brother instead? If they did something like that, they might as well make it a direct-to-DVD film.

No Jack would be in it too. But his brother would be along side him. Depp has already been paid, that news came from a conference that took place like 3 or 4 weeks ago where Disney announced that Depp will star as Jack again and he will also play Tonto in the Lone Ranger Film.

^Well, that's good. The good thing about Pirates is that it's not a franchise that takes itself terribly seriously, so there's no danger of it slipping into self-parody like the Schumacher Batman films. And, I doubt that Disney would ever be foolish enough to make a Pirates movie on the cheap, so they'll always be fun to look at.

Dont even mention those Batman films. AH! I don't think Disney would ever produce a Pirates cheaply. Plus if Bruckheimer is involved it will be Ginormous (is that a word I don't think so lol)

You never know, Indiana Jones came back after how many years.......
And we all witnessed the tragic thing that was. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO MORE PIRATES! I very much so hope that Gore Verbinski says no to direct a fourth movie. Even if they do a fourth I hope he has the respect to say no if the story is mediocre and not do it for the money. But hey if we follow the recent Hollywood equation Steven S. will produce and Shia LeBouf will star and it will well suck.
The 4th Indiana Jones is one of my very favorite movies! Second favorite in the Indy series (after Last Crusade). 8-)
