Ah, that's why I haven't heard of it. I haven't been to Animal Kingdom yet.js3901 wrote:Countdown to Extinction at Animal Kingdom. Since that movie came out, the changed the name of the attraction to Dinosaur!.
Which attraction-based movie do you like the least?

Haunted mansion gets my vote for worst attraction-based movie for having a ridiculous story and being totally blasphemous to the ride (in my opinion).[/quote]
I own most Disney movies, but I'll never own this one.

Countdown to Extinction opened with Animal Kingdom in 1998. The movie, Dinosaur, came out a couple of years later. They then changed the attraction name to Dinosaur.anim8rguy72 wrote:I believe the Dinosaur movie came before the ride so this one probably shouldn't count. It was originally Project extinction or something similiar. let me know if I'm wrong about this one.

We will porbably never know what influence the Dinosaur ride and movie had on each other. The movie probably took a long time to produce as did the ride. Only Disney knows which project was initiated first. However, they share many visual similarities, after the movie came out, these similarities were even more pronounced. What I think is that they were never supposed to be similar at all, but at the last minute the imagineers and the animator's put 2 and 2 togther and we ended up with a movie using dinosuars from an existing attraction as characters in the movie. Then of course, we had the original, yet subtle "johnny depp"-style refurb. when they changed the name and statue in front of the ride.
Although the storylines probably have th least in common than any otehr ride-movies. I guess country beasr and mission to mars don't have anything to do with their namesake attractions eitehr.
Technically, "it's tough to be a bug" came before its movie also (perhaps the only time in Disney history where Disney created a movie-based attraction before finding out if the film was successful or not). However, they were most likely produced together since "a bug's life" came out merely a few months later.

Country Bears does not strike me as something I would want to see. I have been on all the other attractions and would definitely enjoy watching the movies from them.
