Which ride Dinosaur or Test Track has the loud noise? I have not been on either oneDr. Ravenscroft wrote:I had the same problem with it when I rode it for the first time in Dec 06. Now I know for future.......bring earplugs. Come to think of it I haven't had too many problems with loud noises on rides.kronk's angel wrote:I thought it was rough, but mostly it was (at least, at the time) eardrum-piercingly loud.

I went on it last time I was there in July 2006 during Extra Magic hours. It was a very intense ride and I loved every little bit about it.... but this is coming from someone who looks to get jostled around on every ride. I personally found it a lot easier to handle then Test Track, but just a little more intense than the Great Movie ride!

Dinoland used to be much better...? different...? before they added Hester and Lester (or whatever the heck their names areI usually try to avoid Dinoland. Just one man's opinion but it kind of has that County Fair feel to it.

Really, the Dino Institute (countdown to Extinction) tied the entire area together. Now, Chester and Lesters seems like a completely different "land" than the area around the Dino Institue. Chester and Hester's replaced much of the Cretaceous Trail and the Dinosaur Jubilee exhibit.
In my opinion, the original Dinoland was pretty boring, but the quick fix they came up with is too tacky. Dinosaur is the only really winner in the area, and even then, it's no Indy. And I guess it's not for everyone either, since we have this thread...

The trick to Dinosaur & Indy, I think, is like how you should ride a rollercoaster: like a rag doll.
If you stiffen up and try to hold still while you ride, you're going to hurt yourself. Instead, just let your back and hips go limp and you're a lot more comfortable.
But then again, maybe it depends on if you're a coaster fanatic type of person too!

I'm not usually one for "rough" rides, but I find this ride merely bumpy as opposed to jarring, so I've not had any back problems or the like yet. The only problem I have with this ride is the NOISE. When the dinosaur roars at you right as they take your picture, I can't help the instinct I have to cover my ears. Every time before I ride it, I always think, "It can't be THAT loud. I was probably just imagining last time." After all, I've never been one to complain about *anything* being too loud. But then I get off the ride for the hundredth time, look at my picture, and there I am - holding my ears like they're about to fall off.
^And I agree about keeping your body loose. I'm a huge roller coaster fan, and I've been on more than my fair share of head banging Vekomas. If you can survive a boomerang, you can survive ANYTHING.

I have a family member who complains getting a lot of pain in her hips and back on that ride. They could use a less rough car for the more mature or for those who don't want it so rough. Although I really like the ride just the way it is. When I rode it for my first time in AK I was really impressed with it and with the whole park.
