What sound defines Disney??

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

What sound defines Disney??

Post by SysFail » Sep Fri 29, 2006 10:13 am

Bellboy in the chat this morning (YES more of you should come visit us on the IRC chat on Accessirc.net :P ) asked us what a good Disney ringtone would be for his cell phone. One that the instant somebody heard it they would know it was Disney!!!

Any suggestions for him???

the few bars of "When You Wish Upon A Star" that have accompanied the Walt Disney Productions logo before movies and TV shows for ages...

Yeah, when I hear When you Wish Upon a Star, I think Disney. The Fantasmic! theme sounds pretty cool as a ringtone. Or that "whistle" when you put your ticket in the machine at the turnstile.

Oh, and "Welcome Home."

Of course Pirates and HM as well. When You Wish Upon a Star might be a little girly, I know I wouldn't put that on my phone.

"Your attention please..." from the railroad might be cool.

if you look in the Disney Ringtone thread, I listed some that I used on my phone and they all sound as classic Disney (at least to me). songs like One Little Spark, IASW, PotC, & HM are good ones to use...

Well here's the deal with the ones mentioned so far. TOOO QUIET or TOOO ANNOYING (plus my watch sings IASW).

It's tricky, so far the only one I found that works is the Jetsons song. It launches really quick and loud without being annoying, and it is recognizable right away.

So I know the Jetson's is not Disney. Duh.. was just an example.

I have tried to use when you wish upon a star but it is too quiet. I am in the process of synthing a louder version, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

When it comes down to it, is that the "Disney Theme Song/Jingle".

"Too Quiet" has a lot more to do with the phone itself and the quality of the MP3 you use, than the song itself.

What About "Hakuna Matatta"? Or the Mickey Mouse Club song?

There's also the baroque hoedown.

It's funny about the PotC tune, specifically "yo-ho yo-ho..". It might not conjure up images of the attraction, rather images of the movie. :/

I had Fantasmic as my ringtone for a while. Right now it's "He's a Pirate" from the movies and that seems to get people's attention as "Disney".
